Kuchen Recipes

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

My DH loves kuchen and I found a couple of recipes in a box of MIL's stuff. I'd like to compare them to other recipes and find the one he likes the best. Please post your favorites!

Apple Kuchen
Line a buttered cookie sheet or cakepan with a pie-crust-thin baking powder biscuit dough.
Cover with 1/4 in. thick apple slices, laid out in rows.
Add filling:
4 beaten eggs
2 c. cream or milk
2 c. sugar
4 T. cornstarch
This is equal to 2 large pies.
Bake at 350º for 45-55 minutes.
Sprinkle with cinnamon. (Bisquick can be used for crust.)

Strawberry Kuchen
1 c. Bisquick mixed with milk to make a stiff dough.
Roll out thin, like a pie crust in a well buttered pie pan.
Filling:
2.5 c. sweetened crushed strawberries
1/4 c. sugar, mixed with 2 T. flour
1 egg, beaten
1 c. cream or condensed milk
pinch salt
Bake at 350º for 45-55 min.
For cookie sheet size, double crust recipe.
Double filling recipe but be careful not to fill it too full.
(It takes a cup or 2 less than a full double recipe to fill the pan.)
