I have this on my front porch along with a bunch of other bromeliads, tillandsias, and succulents.

Thank you very much!

Beautiful!
My favorite bromeliad.
By the way, what is the speckled foliage in the foreground?

It's beautiful Lisa. I'd love to take a photographic tour through your entire garden! Hint, hint... :-)

Prism, it is an evergreen called aucuba japonica variegata "gold dust".
It is a shade lover and is a wonderful shrub. Mine actually gets late afternoon sun and does great. It is about 4 feet tall and very bushy.

Thanks, rylaff!
That is very, very nice.
I think I have something else to add to my want list. : )

Does it take heat & humidity okay if it's in the shade?
Thank you!

Here in North Florida it gets pretty hot and humid. Handles it just fine.

Oh your bloom is gorgeous. Never seen something like that before thanks for introducing me to something new.

One of my favorites, too, and yours is really just about the nicest I've ever seen!

(What brand is your camera?)

I love bromeliads, own many....they keep well for me but never bloom (with the exception of a few Neoregelias and Cryptanthus). I'll have to get them toted outdoors during the summer!

The one I usually use is an older model of Sony Cybershot. The only problem with it is difficulty handling reds. I have a newer fancier Sony Cybershot DSC 717 that is pretty awesome but it is bulky. Mostly I use the older one. It takes decent pics.
