will have siberian iris ... interested?

Coeur D Alene, ID(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone, I am fairly new to the plant trading.
I have a TON of siberian iris - a deep purple color (I'm sorry I don't know the exact variety - it had already been growing in my yard...), and I am planning on redoing some of the beds, so I'd like to remove some of it. I'm more than happy to send some SASE to those interested. The only trade I can think of that I want is a white lilly - preferably the tall kind (although if you have any other offers, I may be interested).

I don't know when is the best time to pull the iris and send them... I'm in zone 5. Is it better to do it as soon as the ground thaws - before the plants start growing, or right after they flower?

Thanks!
Mara

Peter, imzadi, and mariajose, I am sending you all an email.
Everyone else, I'm going to stop for now... I don't want to promise too many people. When my plants start to come up, I may re-open this offer.
Thanks!

Mara, I dig and transplant my Sibs. as soon as the growth starts.
I will warn you that it is quite a job to dig them and divide, but I use a shovel to dig with and then take an old sharp butcher knife to slice thru the roots. When you dig them you will see what I am trying to explain.

I would think that you have the variety called Ceasar's Brother as it is an old variety.

Thanks Maxine,
I tried to divide some last summer (before I found this website), so I know what hard work it is... I ended up just breaking them into a few giant clumps. I'm glad there's people who want some so now I can thin them out.

Hi,
I've been watching this thread to see if there's some extra siberian iris is left.
I am in zone 5 too and would love to add some siberian iris to my garden which
is quite small and colourless at this point. I have ferns and hostas in the shade
and vinka pretty much everywhere else. If there is any siberian iris left, I'd be
very happy to have it. I'll keep watching the thread.

HI, Mara,
Love the Cour d Alene area-often vacation in Sandpoint.
Daylilies and columbines should thrive in your area, as well as the Asiatic lilies. Welcome to the trading life:)

halsa, I'm sorry, I can't trade any more of them. Marcia, daylillies and columbines are doing well in my yard here, so hopefully the lillies will, too!
Thanks,
Mara
