That is fascinating...will it smother and kill the almond tree?
Is this the same ephedra that is now banned in diet supplements here in the U.S.?

Okay, I've got the answer to the weight loss drug. That's Ephedra vulgaris. But yes, the same genus.

As for whether or not the E. aphylla strangles the tree it climbs on, I still don't know.
