Depending in your growing situation could be mildly invasive not related to Purple Loosestrife

I have no problems with keeping it under control.

Arroyo Grande, CA

Loosestrife and liatris do not do well in my garden. I have pretty much given up on most of the stuff that requires winter chill and good soil. I live on a rocky hillside about a mile an a half from the ocean.

ohhhhhhhhh , wanna trade gardens ?

lol

most of mine is still under snow ;'(

Arroyo Grande, CA

It is one of the finest growing climates in the world. All the winter wet, summer dry South African and Aussie plants do very well, as well as most California and Baja natives. Have not had a frost for about five years.

Having an attack of zone envy now.

Someday you could post some pictures I hope.

Just really getting started with the yard. Mostly a collection of plants, though some areas are starting to fill in. I guess I will need to get a camera. The proteas are going crazy right now. I have about 1500 different things planted, all on drip, all able to handle the weather and crappy soil. Concentration on CA natives, with some Aussies and South Africans thrown in. I am heading toward seeds as I have exhausted most of the nurseries around here and the various BotGard sales at both ends of the state.

Wow ! Sounds like a little bit of heaven Chuck.

I wanna see ......... whaaaa !

We'll be waiting.

Wonder if brugs would do good there. Is it warm enough to plant them in the ground where you are ?

Arroyo Grande, CA

I have several brugs, but none in the ground. The big yellow one, Grimmaldi I think, does very well next to the house. It would be ten feet tall if I didn't keep cutting it back. I have several other young ones that should bloom big this year, a red, white, double white. I have ordered a bunch of seeds of different kinds. I am going to start those pretty soon. I do not fertilize anything that is planted in the ground, which is a rocky clay and the brugs seem much happier with great soil and lots of fertilizer and water. But I am running out of pot room so I guess they are going in the ground. I have a few daturas and solanums as well. The Solanum xanthii var obispoensis is native to this area, but I have had a hard time getting it going. A local grower puts it out in 4" so I tried a half a dozen to see if it will work.
