What do ya think???

Joseph, OR(Zone 5a)

So, what do ya think? Do you think people would buy something like this? This is my first ever painting! I finished it last night. It took five hours. I still have to seal it, but I think its great for a first timer! This will hold some kind of a selection of moon garden plants for the moon garden. This is Van Gogh's Starry Night. Pretty cool theme huh! But my girlfriend thinks these would sell well at local craft shows and what not. But I'm just not sure if gardeners would go for this kind of thing. I'm working on a Wizard Of Oz one now. It has the gang facing away from you on the yellow brick road. The Emerald City is in the background and there is a field of Poppies on boths sides of the road. In fancy lettering it says, "The Poppies will make them sleep," that's a quote from the wicked witch of the west. Then I was going to plant red poppies in the pot! Pretty cool eh!

Those are soooooo cool! I absolutely love the Van Gogh Starry Night one!

Is this your first painting of any kind ever????? If so, you have talent that NEEDS an outlet.

Wow! Great job. You truly have talent.

I love them! I painted some pots last year, but nothing that looked that GREAT! Those are really cool!

Wow! That is great! I would love to see the Wiz one when you're done. I especially love the themes for flowers to plant inside them. It took a lot of thought. When I was a kid I belonged to The International Wizard of Oz Club. It still exists, I think, and you could definitely sell some there, if you are thinking of going pro.

they look terrific.

They are beautiful. I am a Van Gogh fan and I love the starry night one. It is so pretty and the others look great too. How much do you think you would charge for these pots? They sure are pretty. I have wanted to paint my own pots too but I could never do anything like you have done. Great job!

Great Work J!
Or should we call you StvNicksFan Gogh????
Good 2 C U by the way. ~Kin

Hey~
I like StvNicksFan Gogh, pretty clever! Good to see you to Kin (Can't wait to get that Arum out!) Thanks everyone for the compliments! Yes, this is my first real painting minus the finger painting I did in Kindergarten LOL! I'm thinking about doing a bunch ans seeing is some local nurserys might carry a few. I live right by Rabit Shadow Farms (the famous herb nursery) and I think they would sell well there.

I can't wait to get started on the Wizard of Oz one, I think that one will be a hit! I've seen some pics from that Oz club on TV, the fans really get into it!

I have some great ideas for some fairy pots, really good ideas! I just need to buy all the brushes and paints, very $$$$$. I did starry night with only 7 different colors of paint and then I mixed some of mine own from those. I still need to seal it with some H2O and UV protection, but after that, its ready to go.

I'm not sure how much I would charge, haven't thought about it, but I guess I should huh? The pot was cheap and it has a saucer too. The most expensive thing would be the labor/time. I found some pots at a nursery today, terra cotta that do not have the rim around the top. Instead, it curves outward and it is all flat. Perfect for mural paintings. The rim on starry night casts a shadow on the pot in the sun. These new post I found run $16 each and are 16" pots. Perfect size. So what would you all consider paying for a pot like that? Hand painted and very durable against the elements. I could probably even do personalized things as well.

Thanks again everyone, great inspiration!

I think you'd find great interest at craft shows StvNicksFan. People that go to craft shows appreciate the art and time it takes to do something and will pay for it. How much to price them for? That value would be pretty much put on them by you, taking in consideration how much the supplies are and the most valuable thing in it.. .your time. Might you try out an Ebay auction? That would give you a taste of what they are worth to other people. :) Good luck and keep us posted!

I have seen some terra cotta pots with straight side and a simple top/edge. I may have one in the yard somewhere. They would be ideal for mural pots. You have a lot of talent. Maybe I could commission you to doa custom one for DW's Bday? SHipping would be expensive, though! It's in July...

Picture of the pot I mentioned above. I see a starry night mural and some sort of tall silver narrow- bladed grass growing in it. Or some silvery plant with star-like flowers?

I would buy them :-) Very colorful and unique - nice job.

This is a very heavy well crafted pot. I painted the inside with Thompson water seal several times so my Abutilon doesn't dry out so quickly beacuse the pot suks out all the moisture...

Absolutely wonderful!!!! I love your version of Van Gogh's Starry Night!!!! (It's one of my alltime favorite paintings...)

The only question now is - what could you plant in it that wouldn't be eclipsed by the beauty of it!?!?
