I am so excited. I found this guy in Miami who collects variegated tropicals. He sells some of his plants that he propagates. I got me a pink princess philodendron for 35$ ( not tissue culture). I expected a small one. It is huge!!!!! He is going to root me some monstera albo and others. Wow.
Check out some of his stuff.

I got a pink princess philodendron!
WOW! You paid THIRTY FIVE bucks for a plant?! Well, it's pretty, and if you're happy, I'M happy for you!
Beautiful!!!
:) Donna
Good for you!...I have one myself, and you will find her easy to take care of, just like most other philos.
She will grow like crazy too...be prepared! Make sure you give her enough bright, but not direct light,
because I had mine a little too shaded this winter, and my new growth has not been as pink. :(
No worries, though, because I'll have her outside soon enough LOL
Thanks, too, for the link. I love to drool over more tropicals. BTW, how expensive will your monstera albo be?
Jackie
Pricey, but I have to have one. In a 3 gallon container, about 75$ for the Monstera Borsigiana albo variegata .
I don't blame you at all, and I love the "I have to have one."
I can relate.
Good luck!!
Absolutely beautiful!!!
He has ae ae banana!!! I am scared to ask how much he wants for it, though!!
rylaff the pink princes is outstanding.
Wow
Double WOW. I was talking to a good friend last night and she said she wants one of these!!! I may have to get her one. THANKS
What's the difference between and Pink Princess and a Painted Lady Philo???

pink princess has pink in it, painted lady has different shades of green.
Thanks for explaining the difference.

Hi, what a a beauty.
MiamiMax is one of us, you know.........
Nancy Lee
I noticed the other day that he had no entries on the Garden Watchdog, and was about to add it but couldn't decide whether it should be under raretropicalplants.com or Miamimax or his name.....I've noticed today that rylaff added him, so we should work on adding to his rating if we've ordered from him.

That is beautiful! I will mark this link now! I just remembered why I don't wander over here very much.
Just joined Dave's today. Cany any Miami folks say HOW MUCH sun?
Hi CATS, welcome to Dave's Garden. The few aroids that I have are sitting under an avocado tree. They only receive filtered sun, if any.
What part of Miami are you in? I'm not too far from Homestead Air Force Reserve Base.
Giancarlo, what part of Miami are you in?
Hi Giancarlo,
I tried emailing 'MiamiMax' at the address you list above, but the email came back to me as "user unknown". Is there an alternate email address for him? Thanks,
GH
Growhappy...check the entry in Gardenwatchdog in my post/reply above.....there's a link to his email on that page.
Thanks, Nan. I was able to contact Steven. :))

Hi Delecie. I live in Perrine near and about to the South Motors on US-1. Go down to Homestead all the time especially for the food at Toro Taco. Don't need the u-pick this year as I have all the tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, herbs, and 8 kinds of lettuce I can handle.
I have 60 + palm trees (most of them unusual) which I negotiated from Jack Miller at Botanics Wholesale in addition to the two stands of bamboo. Everything was planted really small and after 10 years, I have a firmly established canopy.. I am trying now to establish a ground beautiful level and could use some suggestions.
My property faces north/south. Because of the heavy canopy, I get filtered morning and mid-day sunlight in the woodland area I have established. Unfortunately, at the edges and going into the center (late day only), I do get bright sun. As we know down here, August and September late afternoon sun is brutal. Again, any suggestions? Will send photos in the future.
For anyone interested, I did contact RareTropicalPlants.Com and received a very nice immediate reply. For those of you local folks, he did say that in addition to internet sales, he does have a small greenhouse and would welcome visitors on appointment.

Oh you lucky folks....I'd so *love* to visit his nursery, just to see all those beautiful variegates!! Cats.....did you check out those variegated palms?!?!?! Amazing!
I bought a variegated Fishtail palm from Steve a few years ago...it's a sloooooowwww grower!
Lisa:
Forgive me for hijacking your thread.
Cats:
We're both in SW Dade! WooHoo! It's nice to finally meet someone in Dave's Garden who lives in my neck of the woods.
My garden is still a major work in progress because I'm still learning how to put it together. However, some of the things I have planted in full sun are: plumerias, crotons, Sanchezia nobilis, Hibiscus, Duranta repens, Brugmansia, and FL natives (Firebush, wild coffee, locustberry). If you have the chance, please look at some of my threads so that you can see some of the plants. If you see something that you like, I'll be happy to give you cuttings or plants if I have them. :-)
WELL... It was a lovely looking plant.. so I ordered mine.. Glassworks greenhouse had them at the same rate... and it arrived today... It was at the same price you paid... it is a little smaller with 4 fewer leaves than yours....But they seem to have shipped me an additional spathiphyllum Ho Ho Silver.. .. being so far north I'll probually be giving mine a bit more sun than you have there.. .we're not nearly as bright up here...
The white and green split leaf is lovely it's next on the most wanted list...

Delecie:
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you about your lovely offer. Would love to get together and trade as soon as I can stand up. Have bad back and threw it out AGAIN working in the yard. Looking mostly for understory (part shade) plants. If I dig up any more of the lawn for sun lovers my husband will kill me. Talk to you soon.
