start now?

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

I have purchased Leucocoryne bulbs, and would like to plant in a pot with ranunculus.I have just soaked the ranunculus bulbs and planted them, to grow indoors til time to set out.( I live in zone 5)
Will the leucocoryne grow much faster than the ranunculus? Should I give the ranuncs a head start to develop? Cannot find any info on time it takes to flower after planting.Anybody have any experience with either of these indoors?
Thanks,
Gail

They seem to flower over a fairly long period of time, from what I have read, but not sure how soon after planting that actually happens. You may want to put them in a different container, though, for two reasons. First, if they bloom at a significantly different time or over a longer period of time than the ranunculus bulbs, then you won't be stuck with the foliage of one dying back while the others are in bloom. Second, the leucocoryne flowers tend to have a fairly strong odor and you may want to place them in another location if the "aroma" isn't pleasing to you.

Where did you buy them? Any reputable nursery or garden center should have some planting information for you.

Thank you,smiln32,for the useful information. The garden center I purchased them from just gave me the little tag with planting depth, distance apart, etc. All questions were met with less info than I already knew. Most garden centers in our area hire people with either the most general knowledge or none at all, except how to run a cash register. It is really frustrating when you want SPECIFIC information on your zone.So thank you for responding!
