Quitting smoking - stories, support

Chapel Hill, NC(Zone 8a)

Since I can't search the forums to see if anyone's started a thread similiar to this, I'm starting one :-). I, for one, am in the process of quitting smoking and would love to hear the stories of other ppl who have quit smoking or are trying to as well. If you haven't ever started - don't!!!!! It is one of the hardest bad habits to kick!!! I have tried to quit a couple of times in the past 2 years to no avail (tried the patch and the gum). I ended up going to a psychiatrist about a month ago for not being terribly happy w/ my life, and mentioned to him wanting to quit smoking as one of the things I'd like to be different about my life. He thought I was possibly a bit ADD as well, and prescribed me Wellbutrin. Hoping to kill 3 birds w/ one stone :-). For the past month, the Wellbutrin has done nothing for me in terms of not wanting to smoke, but the doc asked me to increase my dosage a bit a few days ago....and suddenly I'm almost "forgetting" about wanting a cigarette. Today I went from 8:30am till 2:30 pm before having a cigarette at work...usually I've had 2 cigs by noon and 3-4 by 2:30! I'm getting really hopeful about this, but will just have to wait and see what happens. Anyone else have any "quitting" stories to share or is in the process and would like to talk to ppl going through the same? Katherine
