This seedling has been growing about 3 months, I was moving them around in the green hut (house) & this one looked rather bushy, in closer inspection, it looks like there is a "Y" formed there, geeze this plant is all of maybe 4 inches tall, & already has a tiny "Y" on it! Is that what I am seeing on this? Gosh, I hope it doesn't get any flowers soon it will break the plant! I put a measuring tape next to it when I took the picture so you can see just how tiny it is! It's a "Double" seed from Susie.
I am astonished! Bj
A Baby "Y"???
Fantastic! Hope it is a good one. A double pink maybe?
BJ I think the trunk on your seedling has forked. They do that once in awhile. It's not a true Y so you don't need to worry that it will flower on such a tiny plant.
Phew! So glad to hear that, I was imagining a huge flower on that tiny thing!
BJ -- those produce very pretty plants, in my opinion. I grew three like that last summer as double standards, and they are really quite attractive. Apparantly the fork is caused by damage to the top of the plant. Maybe a bug-bite or a bruise. The other alternative (I read in a post some time ago) is to pinch back one side, if you want a single trunked tree. Someone else will hopefully provide clarification on the pinching idea... Anyway, your little brugling looks great!
Thank you Gretchen. I too, have had some nice ones come from the likes of this one. Keep us posted on how it turns out BJ.
Great looking seedling, BJ.
Keepin' my fingers crossed for you!
No matter what, that's a healthy looking specimen!
Good for you!
Please keep us up to date on this baby,
Jackie
If both sides grow the same imagine the canopy and flowers it will have.
I think it is just precious, too cute and so fuzzy and healthy!!! I had one that forked and, I think it happened when I removed it's hat (cork from the seed). I hate it when that happens, but I'm grateful it's growing despite the injury. Do any of you leave the hats on and, if not, is there a secret for removal??
I leave the hats on and let them push off themselves. If they won't, then I carefully use my finger nail and peel one side. I did it with two of them today and nice yellow leaves popped out of one. One, has very little of the cotyledon leaves. However, I can see the growth point and I think it will be okay. Maybe slow.
Thanks, Brugie!! I get antsy and I've had good luck, but I've broken a few necks, yet they came on out and look good now...
This does seem to be fairly even on both sides & it's healthy, think I'll leave it alone & just see what becomes of it. I have about 10 more other seedlings to transplant today, they have outgrown their baggie! I'm running out of room in my tiny green hut. Hope we get spring early!
Thank-x for all of the great input! Bj
