Fat Cat woes

Help!

My Maine Coon just keeps getting bigger and bigger...trouble is, our other cat is a Siamese cross and is skinny. I can't figure out how to cut back on food for Obi-Wan without leaving Mojo hungry. Our house is open plan except for bathrooms and bedrooms, and feeding them separately really isn't an option. I've been free feeding them since we got them 2 years ago. I've started putting out a set amount in the mornings, but when Obi runs out he moves to Mojo's dish.

I also can't figure out how much niblets they're *supposed* to eat--the suggested quantities are too general. I feed a high quality, natural cat food.

Any ideas? Any one else have this problem? He has been less active outside since we got a dog who trees them when we all go for a walk, unlike our last dog. I'm working on that part! Of course, it's winter and lots of snow, but that's never stopped the cats from walking with me before. (they just hop from one footprint to another).

Here's a picture of Obi last winter, before he started putting on so much weight.
