Terrie, I just found these pictures of yours http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/452273/ . Oh my gosh!! And you've only been doing this for three or four years?! As everyone said on that thread, you have really arranged everything quite artfully. I can't get over how full and lush everything is. How long did it take you to achieve that fullness?
trunnels/Terrie, tell me your secret!
Wow, what a beautiful yard. You're my gardening hero, Terrie.
Wow - I hope in a few years to have my yard look like that . . . so far well, we have been falling a little short . . . . . . . . well we can dream right?
I think DG should have a forum or special place for "Garden of the Year" I am sure it would go to Trunnels-Terrie. I think she makes us all dream, gives us hope and then has us all saying our prayers. LOL
Absolutely beautiful gardens Terrie.
Thank you all for such nice words. No secret, I just love to garden. It gives me peace and makes me smile. And for the record, there is some very heavy competition out there for garden of the year. LOL
Check out Wandasflowers; doss; notmartha, and gardener of all time, John_Benoot. There are many, many more. Just go through the threads and you will be in heaven!

Wow, I too am greatly impressed!! Everything is just beautiful. Can I invite myself to come see it in bloom?! lol Can I ask you a few questions? (I haven't been able to look at every picture or read every post) What type of soil do you have? Are your beds in full sun or shade? What amendments do you add to your bed? What type of fertilizer do you use? Do you use chemicals or are you all natural? I would appreciate any advise or tips.
Thank you. I always love to have visitors to my garden!
Let's see, I have never had my soil tested, I do amend it with composte that I buy from the City of Plano. I do use chemicals when necessary. I don't have a specific fertilizer but use slow release granules whenever I plant anything and try new things occasionally. I have both shade and sun beds. LOL
I'm sorry I don't think I've been much help but I will try to answer any specific questions you have. Let me know if you are ever in my area -- I would love to have you visit.
Terrie
Do you have real dirt? You know, the brown/black crumbly stuff? lol I have thick mucky clay. I have had my soil tested, am constantly putting out compost, using organic fertilizers and no chemicals. I do have success but must say I don't get the lush green that you have. I look forward to seeing some pics from you this year. Let us know if you put them in an album or start a new thread!
Yes, I have real dirt. It is black and crumbly. lol I will definitely post more pictures this year. Can you share pictures of your garden with us?
Wow! What a great garden Blondie!
(Sigh!) I'm trying really hard you guys, to be admiring, not envious. (Patience, patience, patience...)
OH WOW WOW WOW! That's one gorgeous, color-filled, make-me-really-jealous, "wow!"-inspiring garden you have KKB! Thank you for sharing your pics!
-Julie
Those do look great! I have seen it in person, and the colors are just jaw dropping. I remember going back home to my huge yard thinking of all of the blank canvas I had. I am working furiously to keep up with KKB.

Beautiful gardens, KKB! I'm sure everyone coming up your front walk stops to admire such a beautiful site.
Do I see some kind of brug in the back corner (the saw toothed leafy plant)? Also, what is the red flower that is tall and willowy (that's the only way I can think to describe it)?
Thanks everyone! I just plant things I like and enjoy the colors. These pics are late in the season but things were still hanging on. I'm hoping to someday have a peaceful space with a fountain or pond like Mel.
trunnels, the only unique thing in front is that Texas Start Hibiscus. It got so tall that I had to cut it back because the branches were drooping. It has the big red flowers and the leaves that resemble a marijuana plant. lol
Actually you would be surprised at how many people have no flowers in the front beds, only shrubs. I have quite a few decidious perennials in my front beds, which means the front of my house is nothing to look at in the winter but boy, it is nice and colorful in the spring and summer.
