I try to keep these around ..

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I came upon this praying mantis egg case on a brug yesterday while tidying the glasshouse.
It's the little brown blob just below the leaves.
Usually I collect these from the farm and bring inside so the babies get a better start.
As the doors and vents open, they are free to leave.
But looks at least one Momma liked it well enough inside to stay (o:
I've found them on other plants. But this is the first I found on a brug.
I was happy to see the progress made helping these mantis to a better start and well being ((o:
Thought I'd share this neat find (o:

We have not seen any preying mantis in over 20 years.

Kristi(datdog) is going to send me some eggs as soon as weather warms enough to ship. Sure hope they don't hatch out in her garage before she can send them! Bunch of little "stick" babies running around..

I have ordered the egg cases before but they never seem to hatch here. I do see adults here once in awhile, but not the egg cases. I'd like more of them around they do such good work! It's odd that they would lay in the green house, tho it is perfect conditions I guess! Thank-x for sharing that! Bj

That looks like one case you won't be cutting off for a while. LOL! I'm going to try them again this year. I think I'll try to hatch them out in a bowl like Shelly did last year. I just don't want to do it too soon and not have anything for them to eat.

Yes, Shirley, that case is going to stay awhile.
In my surprise, I didn't even check whick brug it is. lol
I will today.
Which reminds me I better get to work .. )o:
