Are the spines stiff? I don't think I've ever seen this plant. Funny name! I wonder if it wags in the wind!

Jen, yes the spines are stiff--but crinkly looking. I think that, like a lot of Selenicereus, it will eventually have a vining habit. It's planted in bark when I got it, so I'm assuming it's epiphytic.

I brought back a specimen of this plant from a mayan site in coba yucatan 7/2017. It thought it was a type of pitaya and never seen anything like it in the states. It has 3 ribs and the spines were soft, It had a wide structure and it has been climbing along a tree trunk.. My cutting did not make it maybe the ancients didn't like me taking it from the site.
