I can't believe how fast all these buds grew after the first flower finished. I've got 8 and one has already started to emerge from the calyx. Don't worry....I'm not going to do the blow by blow coverage again. LOL But if you twist my arm again I might post a picture of all the blooms open at once.
More Kyle's Pink Buds
Sandy, don't be silly. I am sure we all love to see blooms. By all means give us a "blow by blow" as they start to open.
I second that Sandy, it's always nice to see blooming flowers of any kind. ( I am partial to brugs tho :0 )
Okay, but I haven't seen too many of other people's flower pictures and I seem to be posting an awful lot of mine. I don't want everyone to be thinking "oh no, here she goes again".
Please post.....we still have a couple of months of winter, tho it certainly is losing it's grip, it's wonderful to see flowers that won't be seen here for a while yet.
The reason you aren't seeing photos of our blooms is because...THERE AREN'T ANY! So please be sympathetic and share with us any or all your early blossoms. We'll be sure to show you ours in a few weeks, honest!. :-)
I realize that most people here wouldn't have outside plants blooming now but these ones are inside. There must be lots of houseplants out there.
I haven't got one bloomin' right now. BTW, lost my little Sang seedlings. :-( Only 2 germinated out of the 5. One grew about 2" tall but had something wrong with what should have been it's leaves. Finally gave up the ghost. The second one sprouted, but again was kinda bent over. Then just sat there and died. Too bad. How are yours doing? And Joelle and Shannon?
I had only one germinate. It's about a half an inch tall and it's not growing at all. I got some sanguinea seeds from Jeanne before Christmas. They're peach x red. They grew really well but I have a few too many so I'm going to bring them to the RU to give you and Joelle and Shannon.
That is very sweet of you Sandy, but really not necessary. Certainly wasn't your fault. Would like to trade one for an Apple Blossom Brug seedling?
I know it's not my fault Donna, it's just the way it goes sometimes but anyhow, Jeanne and I already discussed doing this. Actually, you'd be helping me out because I was thinking, "What am I going to do with all these?" I only have so much room. I would love one of your Apple Blossom seedlings. What do you want to trade for it? Do you have a brug with variegated leaves? If not then you definitely need one. LOL
I don't want anything else in trade silly, just the peach x red Sang. What kind of variegated leafed Brug have you got? Maya?
I got a branch from someone who got the plant from a friend. All she knew was that it has white flowers. Jeanne knows the name because she said there aren't very many. Jeanne...what did you say it was? Nobody seems to want one.
No sign yet on my baby sangs, but they still look good- nice and firm. I tried starting them in Rockwool maybe I should transfer them to dirt- any ideas anyone? Thanks Joelle
Gee, Joelle, some of the ladies on the Brug Forum swear by the Rockwool. I'd hang in there a little longer. Or you could check your "technigue" with the Brug ladies and see if they think it's been too long. Good luck though.
I agree with Donna, leave them in the rockwool if they aren't rotting Joelle. The rest of us haven't had much luck in soil.
OK, thanks for the encouraging words ladies! First time for Sang. seeds and Rockwool! Joelle
Thanks Jeanne. So do you want one Donna?
OH YES Please. I'd love to have a variegated leaf suaveolen type Brug. Thanks Sandy. When the new spring bulbs come out, I'll have to buy you something special. :Donna
Okay Donna, you've got a deal. I think the variegated leaves are very nice.
I'm glad your seeds are still all right Joelle because I just realized that I can't bring a sang to the RU for you. Sorry about that.
HAHA! I was watching that, thanks though it certainly is the thought that counts. Take care, Joelle
Lookin' so good, Sandy.
Makes me almost wanna hop in the truck and get up there to see them. One of these times, I'll be doing just that.
LOL You probably get way more blooms than I do Linda because I think you have way more large plants with Y's. I only have 3. Two of which have spider mites. I sprayed them yesterday with malathion and then checked them today not thinking I'd find any. I couldn't believe it....there were live spider mites all over the leaves probably laughing at me if I could have made out their little faces. So I dragged them back outside and sprayed them with methoxychlor. Before I brought them in just now I checked every single leaf and still found some live ones so I took those leaves off. Sheesh!!
Hi everyone,
I missed this thread somehow - great pics, Sandy! Never hesitate - we love 'em. Besides, it's your job living on the coast, to give the rest of us something to keep us going during late-winter-fever....lolol
Well, a prize brug seed report: three went mouldy, one has sprouted and the last one is still thinking about it. I had soaked them and pressed them into the soil still in their seed-coats, then after some timely and much-appreciated advice from Jeanne, peeled the seed-coats off the remaining two, and one sprouted about two days afterwards. The cotyledons haven't quite emerged yet - the seed casing is still covering most of it, but it's about 1.5 cm up from the soil on a healthy-looking stem, so far....fingers crossed....
Shannon
Oh Shannon, isn't it exciting to watch them grow from seed. Glad you've had some success with them, keep going!.
Thanks! It really is exciting - especially after the panic & distress when the first three went mouldy. Thank goodness for Jeanne's advice; no doubt she's seen it all before! :-) Although judging by Donna's experience, I'm not out of the woods yet...something could still go wrong even after it's sprouted....well one thing I can do is make sure those darn cats don't chew on it like they did my crocuses last week!! lol
Look at you...a virtual forest of Brugs now. Woo Hoo!
Oh Sandy, too bad I have a couple of things planned or else I really would be on my up to see those. They are really lovely, sure hope they all turn a lovely pink for you. Wow.
Thanks you guys....they are pretty nice. I just wish I had a better sense of smell so I could enjoy the fragrance better.
Oh Sandy they are gorgeous!! Ü
Beautiful. :)
