Welcome digger. We are always glad to have newcomers. My DH has been diabetic for 42 years so I know what you are up against. If you take insulin it is much harder to lose weight. But I can tell you from his experiences with this disease that keeping it under good control the best thing you can do for yourself. He didn't for many years and has had about 9 cardiac procedures, has decreased kidney functions, and many eye problems including detached retina and cataracts in both eyes. Exercise is essential but any amount is better than nothing at all. If you can only walk one block for 2 weeks, great. Just do it! Even waving your arms and legs around aimlessly is exercise. And if you do much gardening and yard work you are getting exercise. Housework is exercise. As someone said, don't let those who have the time, energy and stamina to go much more discourage you. Do what you can, push yourself further as soon as possible and be happy you are able to do that much. Greet each new level of dieting, exercising, and diabetes control with joy. It is progress and that is what is important. A good(positive)attitude is so important also. Start eat day saying(and meaning) "This is the day the LORD has made, I WILL rejoice and be glad in it". We all have to take charge of our WILL and tell it that we are going to move forward each moment of each day.
Today is much like an early spring day. The ground is thawing so there is sticky mud everywhere. I see daffodils popping thr the ground again for the 3rd or 4th time since last fall. Every time it warms up a bit they try valiently to come up and bloom.
GOD bless and keep each of you. HE will be there for you whether or not you are there for HIM.
