CLOSED: Passion flower vine

Millersburg, PA(Zone 6b)

I would like to find seeds if anyone has some extras of the passion flower vine. Would prefer one that doesn't die after fruiting as I could keep it as a house plant during the winter. Any suggestions? I will have daylily divisions this summer, plus seeds listed in my trade list or would be willing to trade cuttings of a nice beefsteak begonia..(When the weather warms up).

How big is your place?

They can and most likely will reach 30 to 40 foot in length by fall!
If you cut them back severly in the fall... you can bring them in.
You can then have some of them to try and root and experiment with.

Gosh, I didn't think they grew that big.

I grow Banana plants and plant them out and they get about 6 ft. tall. But of course our winters kill them.

There is an Amish lady in our area who has a small planter ( 6" or so) that she grows a pretty pinkish red flower in it. I am unfamiliar with this species and thought someone may have some seeds of it.

If I planted it out in the summer it could climb over about 5-6 feet of 6 ft. chain link fence. Would that work?

Could I cut it back and bring it in for the winter?

I tried some searches, you may want to close this thread and start a new thread and be more specific like:

'Looking for Crimson Passion Flower (Passiflora vitifolia)'

OK?

They die after fruiting?!!!

You might want to consider planting it outside or keeping in a pot and taking cuttings to overwinter. It's a lot more tidy for those of us who have to overwinter them in the house b/c we don't have green houses or warm climates. You guys know who you are!!!
