I THREW KARYN RIGGS AWAY!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

lol - not Karyn, of course, but those 3 seedlings. I tried and I tried and I tried to get rid of the aphids - NOTHING worked. As soon as I thought I had them licked, I'd see more eggs. It is so weird that NONE of the other Brugs were affected - just those 3. So I put them outdoors the other night and they froze. I am so sorry about having to do that, but I couldn't keep them in my house anymore.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

As long as it wasn't our CC we will forgive you Karrie!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

What a bummer!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Karrie, watch your others closely now. You may still have some of the little critters lurking around waiting for you to put down your guard.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I feel so....violated

just toss me away cause I attract a few little pests......
sniff...snivel......

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I so sorry CC!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Doris, give CC one of those kleenexs also. LOL

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

Hi all, as a newbie to Brugs can I ask if you could be useing something like Ferti-lome systemic insecticide granules for an aphid problem on Brugmansia? They go in the soil and "poisons" the plant for insects and you don't have to keep spraying. Has any of you tried this stuff on Brugs with success?

Sorry to ask a serious question here but to get back to the "throwing Karen" I just pray that she didn't bounce to hard or that it didn't hurt to bad.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Ada and Richard!!

So Richard, does your insecticide kill mites also?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I got bruises!!!!!

and where's my tissues????

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

It's made to kill Aphids, Lacebugs, Leafhoppers, Mites, Thrips, and others on Roses and Shrubs but it is also labeled for houseplants as well. I've used it off an on for years with great success but I'm new to Brugs so I didn't know about them. I just love NOT having to spray every 5-7 days as with most sprays. Putting it into the soil and letting the plant kill them is Soooo much easier. Kind of a "Payback" for infesting my plants in the first place type of thing.....(surprise! you eat, you die!) Can you tell I dislike harmful insects? LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I wonder if it is different then the rose systemic. What is the active ingrdient may I ask? Thanks!

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

DDT.

No, just kidding....Disulfoton: 0,0-Diethyl S-2-(ethylthio) ethyl phosphorodithioate at 2.0%

Try saying that even once fast.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

CC, Ill mail you some tissues. Give me your addy. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks Richard. I will go find my bottle of rose systemic in the morning!

Poor CC, is she still crying? I think Karrie needs to send her the tissues! Come on Karrie!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Keel, I was offering because I was closer and thought I may could get them to her faster but you never know with our postal system.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Sorry folks! Tissues on the way! I've been out of town for a week - just catching up! That's one of the reasons why they had to be tossed - I wouldn't be here to fight them and didn't want them to infest any of the brug cuttings that I have going. The stuff Rich was mentioning sounds similar to that stuff "Bonide" that I've mentioned before, although not sure about the ingredients being the same. the Bonide didn't seem to work for mine - TOUGH aphids indeed.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Karrie -- welcome back! when are we gonna get to see your new hairdo?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm still here

You can only toss me just soooo far before I bounce right back.....

used all the tissues.....................

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Do you need more tissues, CC? LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Uh huh

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I'm so sorry. I'll send them right away. LOL

Kell,

That was di-syston in the Bonide and the Rose Pride had that also. But the Rose Pride also has the stuff Rich quoted. Only the Rose Pride has only 1% of what Rich said and 99% inert. I don't know that Bonide has that. I don't have it handy.

So, Rich what is the name of that stuff? Bet it is Bonide isn't it?

Jeanette

I wonder if California does not allow those to be sold here. I have not seen Bonide anywhere. California has very strict rules I do believe.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

California has a huge agriculture export to protect. 'course so does Washington. I have not bought any of this stuff for a few years. That one large jug has lasted me and then my daughter bought me the Bonide in Seattle because I really do not like the smell of the other. They are awful.

I will really be glad to get the plants out of my bedroom. haha

However, I do remember, recognize, the ferti-lome name. May have read it on the internet.

I have my Bonide handy. It has 1% Disulfoton, 99% "other" ingredients.
