Hmmm, looks just like Begonia 'Escargot' to me. Must be a new hybrid from it. I see some other nice begonias there, too. They really look good contrasting with one another.

Seems to be quite a bit of "controversy" over your very comment--whether B. Escargo is a renamed version of B. Princess of Hanover:

"Currently there has been discussion in Europe about B. ‘Escargo’ – is it really B. ’Princess of Hanover’? I would prefer to see the original hybridiser given the credit for his achievement and allow the begonia to retain its original name (even if it is harder to say!)." --© 1999-2003,Ken Browne

I had been trying to acquire an Escargo, but then came across my lovely Princess of Hanover in a local greenhouse. Was very satisfied to have found her! They may, in fact, be the same plant. I have communicated the issue to a grower who has contacts with the "patent police," and he has reported it. Maybe it'll be determined someday.

This is a begonia I want regardless of it's name.
Glad to have another name to look and ask for.
Thanks, Sidney

Thanks, Toxi, by the way, for the compliments on my potting trio! The other two are B. Fairy & B. Persian Brocade.....with a start of variegated English ivy tucked in as well. I have the pot on a stair landing shelf, about 8 feet under a skylight.....they're very happy there, and a joy for me to walk past & check on throughout the day. =)

Sugarweed, do you ever root f/leaf cuttings?

I did a bit of internet searching on this controversy, and one website mentions that Princess of Hanover has smaller leaves than Escargot. Also, Escargot has hairy red stems...how about Princess? The website said Escargot leaves can reach a whopping 30 cm (about 12 inches) in length. My largest Escargot leaf so far is about 22cm (8 3/4 inches). How do the Princess leaves and stems compare?

Try not to look at all the other begonias, LOL.
Your skylight/stairwell area sounds great.
