Whats really in dog food?

I should start by telling you that this is not for the squemish. The topic of what brand of foods to buy our dog(s)/cat(s) keeps coming up & there are many opinions on that. I myself have done several searches to find a good quality food to feed my own pets & it has been mind boggling. Almost every companies website boasts about how their food is better than the competitions so it gets harder to believe who is really telling the truth. I've found sites that list food comparisons & explain what each ingredient is. Today I did a search to see if I could find out what the top ten brands of dog foods are and found a source that listed them but did not list them according to numerical order. I myself would like to know how each brand ranks so I'll keep searching to cure my curiosity.

Then I found this site which explains alot about how pet foods are made. Some of it is a bit grosss but it also helped me see that I made a good choice on the brand I decided to buy. I hope you all find this helpful reading.
