It looks like the South African plant, Homeria or 'Cape Iris' is now classified as a Moraea...so perhaps a search for that might bring up a supplier...

It seems like Jim Duggan has some, however, he only ships in California... http://www.thebulbman.com
I will be interested to know what you find them. It looks like they are pretty rare these days...
They are not rare in Calif. Contact Armstrong's nursery and see if they will mail them to you.
Find a Calif. nursery catalogue, I'll even start looking for them. I didn't know that Moraea had a name change. I hope we are on the same page here. I will need a picture just to make sure we are talking about the same species. I am looking in three major African Wildflower books, for you, and will get back to you tonight. I just want to see if I have this plant. Crasulady2

I have blue ones that are getting ready to flower now, I think I can get the white ones, but I don't think they are the same that you want, no bulbs, I don't think I have the yellow bulbs, I do collect African bulbs. There are 10-14 species of Morea. Crasulady2

they are definalty a corm or bulb. not a rhizome.
do you have a email or link for armstrongs??
Just to follow up a little--I am wondering if the 'cape tulip' homeria is the same as the 'cape iris' about which you speak?
I found this (alarming) reference to 'Homeria' http://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/pbs/2004-November/020028.html
which might explain why no one is offering it in their catalogs...It appears 'Homeria' is a noxious plant and outlawed by the Feds....mmmm....
Yes, we had lots of Moraea Homeria in our garden in Pasadena and didn't think anything of it....didn't know we were lawbreakers!
Have a great week. t.
We were talking about two different plants. I am so glad that I asked for a picture. Jo Shaw thank you for telling me that it can't be shipped. I wonder if mine are then 'Dutch Iris'? Mine does look like an Iris, There is another plant that looks like an Iris called Morea. (white and yellow) but it is not a bulb. We have some growing all over the Cactus garden, I guess that is why the curator asked us to remove them, every single one of them. I thought they were pretty, Norma
That's a beautiful Iris Donna. I don't think I've ever seen one that colour. Let me know if you find it anywhere.
Sandy
I did Sandy, but both are Ameican suppliers and won't ship to Canada. I guess we have to wait for a CDN grower or supplier to crop up somewhere! :-)
Too bad.
