This past weekend, I was the 'official' photographer at an event here in town. Now I won't show any photos of people because I don't have consent, but I have photos of the buildings, grounds etc. It's a little known jewel in Victoria, and the idea was an open house to better educate the community of what services and courses are offered.
This first pic of not from the weekend, but of a bud I found today, on Rosamond. It's about 2" long so will be a long while yet, at least a month or so before it'll bloom.

Wow!! Lovely pics and please excuse if I'm breaking up your posting but was wondering have you ever tried rooting a piece of that, or another, *gorgeous* camellia?? ;)
If anyone knows the names of the ones I didn't, (I can say it's a bad habit of mine, not knowing the botanical or even the common name of some plants,) let me know.
:^)) Thank you very much Linda!!
Gorgeous window!

My grandfather had very good success with airlayering his
In case you don't have luck how much does it cost to buy a small one in Victoria?
Love the photos Linda. I didn't realize you were such a "professional". What kind of camera do you have? It takes wonderful pictures. That last pic of the pink flower on the "inside plant" looks like a begonia. I had one like it last summer. Thanks for sharing, I sure enjoyed the show. :D
In Georgia, USA, we have a lot of Camellias and the easiest way I have rooted them is to take a low branch and scrape the underside and place it in the soil with a brick or stone on top of the branch till it takes root. That is the way my grandmother always did hers. May want to give it a try. LOL
Beautiful pictures!

Pam I'll try the airlayering method, I assume that means laying it on top of the dirt. I dunno the cost of them here, but let me try to grow you one first. That camilia that I posted above, I've had as my desk top photo for a couple of days now. I sure enjoy it.
Donna, I bet it was a begonia, i should've known that, but I'm a bit scattered brained lately. I'm not a pro, far from it. I do like taking pictures, and trying get a really good one once in a while really makes it worth it. I have a Minolta DiMage Z1, and it's ok, but not so hot for macro stuff. I really have to work to get a good macro shot, and I don't like wasting time taking the shot over and over again to get a good one. I can get frustrated easily some days. LOL
Thank you for the scrapping suggestion Janet......you definitely are in the right *neck of the woods* to be an expert on this plant! ;)
Yep I can see why you chose that one Linda....it takes my breath away!
JanetS, thanks, I'll give that a try. Grandmothers are rarely wrong!
Beautiful pictures Linda. Thanks for sharing them. That camilia picture is stunning. I can see why you're using it on your desktop.
I had a begonia like that once and I think it was called an angel wing begonia although I see one like it in my houseplant book that's called Begonia maculata.
try two will you linda, i am nuts for camelia and if pam will give it a try in her zone so would i. its the bush i miss the most from the coast - oh my i'm even poetic this am. lol
Nice pictures Linda. Thanks for sharing

Beautiful pics, Linda. I think my favourite is of that bench, with all the beautiful trees around it. I'd like to camp myself right there for oh, about a week or so. Thanks for posting these!
