...it decided to stop teasing me with little buds that it drops (been doing this since last summer) and is finally getting serious about getting some flowers.
The biggest surprise to me is that it actually sits at a rather cold window location and still wants to flower.
H. archboldiana, finally....
That is wonderful! Mine remains in the "tease" state!

PC...I bet its one of the first things you check when you first get up.
we want to see it open for you. I saw a flowering H. archboldiana at Selby gardens and it was super gorgeuos.

Those are some beautiful buds Milan! Hope they don't blast this time. I know the anticipation is about to drive you crazy!
Waiting...waiting....waiting:-)
Blessings,
Awanda
So Milan has it quit *teasing* you yet???
BTW I think the hand in the picture is a wonderful way of showing us how large those buds really are. ;)
Congrats, Milan. If you wake up in the night and it is open, please let me know if it has a scent...I can smell mine!!! (rather, mine did not have a scent...but then, my H. cv. Ruthie DOES!)
Aloha,
Carol
OK 8 1/2 hours have gone by and it looks like it was close to opening this morning....what's it doing Milan?
LOL they are still growing and I'll soon have to move the furniture to give them room :)
This time please include at least one picture with a ruler up against one of the flowers..
LOL soon you're going to have to move out as well.
Still nothing???
Maybe we should have a pool on when they will open? I pick Sunday 9:30 pm local time. They are HUGE Milan, yourplace must just smell heavenly with the other hoyas blooming.
Linda
I'm guessing Milan will notice them open Monday morning when he gets out of bed.
I just heard a big old sproing! coming from Dorval. They are lovely Milan, and huge! Glad they are making you happy.
WOW!! They are gorgeous Milan!! Congratulations!
How on earth can you handle all that perfume?
What is the size of one of the flowers?
WOW...WOW and WOW!! Beautiful flowas:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
Each flower is about 50 mm (2") in diameter, the frangrance from far is to me carnation like but it's hard to tell since pubicalyx smell is in that mix too. On close up with my tiny nose stuck in the "cup" it kinda smell like Baby oil :).
Soon they'll be posing for a Plant Files picture.
Milan
Have they changed at all since the last photo?
When I took the photo three of the flowers where not yet open but they are now plus the outer perimeters are now curled back more. I posted a picture yesterday in plantfiles but it's still in queue as of this moment.
Milan
Very impressive bloom Milan....your Plantfiles pic is really cool also....good growing for indoors....thats something to strive for!
Sandy
YAHOO!!!!!
Congratulations, Milan...I know how happy you must be!!! Beautiful umbel of flowers!!!
Aloha
How long do the blooms last on your H. archboldiana Milan?
Approx. 7-8 days, new buds are already forming again :)
Once they get the idea to bloom it is hard to stop them!!!
Envy here...mine grow outdoors and I can't detect any scent! I wonder why.
Carol
LOL @ Carol (I can't imagine how you could figure out what any plant smells like with your large collection competing against each other).
How exciting for you Milan........you've waited a long time and now to get so many developing! Ü

Ah Milan, your hoya is incredible. Wow and double wow! I'm looking at my hoyas and getting the feeling they're a lot like cats. They deal with you and the world in their own way and most definitely in their own time! Ha ha!!!
