I received a cutting last year and it was labeled Janet Reno. Its blooming now and to me it looks like Charles Grimaldi ......does anyone have a Jenet Reno? Any info would be very appreciated.
Ric
Jenet Reno ??
ric,it doesnt look like my janet reno.
Ricfl,
Look in the gallery in ABADS . The color appears the same but the one in ABADS has longer tendrils if that means anything. Jeanette
ps, I tried to forward it to you but I couldn't.
Nice pictures. I love the blue sky. We see so little of it during the winter.
I have never grown Janet Reno so I can't advise. There are a few that look similar so it is hard to say. Looks like you have some nice brugs there!
Judging by the photos in the galleries at both BGI and ABADS, I'd say it's highly possible your's is Janet Reno. Flower shape appears the same. Color is mostly the same, though slightly varied - but that could just be climate or time of year of the bloom.
You're lucky to have so many blooms this time of year!
Lovely brug pics, Ric. I haven't grown Janet R; But at this time of the year ANY blooming brug is a real treat ....especially here in the cold-snowy north (smile) Thanks for posting all your pics. I'm sure you have brightened the day for many.
P.S. Too bad we can't firgure a way to post the fragrance along with the pics- I bet your garden smells wonderful :)
The only difference I can see using the picture on this thread and at ABADs is that the ABADS brug appears to have serrated leaves. Yours might also because I can't tell if the leaves in the picture belong to the same brug as the bloom. Also some hybrid's leaves will be serrated at one point and with age become more smooth. The blooms certainly look the same to me, and I still love the blue sky. LOL!
Beautiful Photos, Ric! We have the blue skies, but, have some time before the Brugs will be blooming behind those beautiful skies! I can hardly wait to get dirt under my fingernails again!

Thanks everyone for the useful info and the kind comments. I have been looking at pics of the Jenet Reno on the web, and it looks like I have a true Janet Reno. The flowers have matured and stay a nice lemon yellow. The Charles Grimaldi changes to a more orange yellow as the flowers mature and the flower is not a large as the Janet Reno.
It got unusually chilly here in Florida for the past couple of night. The temps dropped to the low 40's . But the brugs did fine. They are not as fragrant when the temps drop. Tomorrow we are back to the low 70's and the back yard will be incensed with the wonderful brug smells.
So who named this brug Janet Reno and why? Seems like an odd choice. Anyone know?
Ric, what a beautiful display of beauty you have. Your choices of flowers in your yard are exquisite and lovely. Thanks for sharing them.
Julie
I love all of your brugs. Yellow's are especially my favorite's, I don't have any preference though, they're all beautiful to me. Great job!
Good question, Kell.
if memory serves me right, i believe Janet Reno is a hybrid of Eric Knight/Brugmansia. am sure Tig or Arlene knows or maybe Brugie.
Hi MaVie, great to see you posting. Hope you're recovering well.
I'm pretty sure it was one of Eric's and for some reason I'm thinking that Trish grew it and named it. Could be wrong. Will have to check and see.
Yes, that is correct. In the ABADS gallery, it gives the information and date.

hi Ada. am trying my best not to be bed ridden. am sick of being sick.
Hope you continue to get your strength back, MaVie. Take care and don't over do.
Really Ma Vie. You have been thru alot. It seems to me that you started to get sick when you moved into your new house. I wonder if there is something there that is bad for you or that you are allergic to.
I guess Trish loves Janet Reno. LOL
Kell, i agree with what u said. something about this place i 'feel' so negative about. i will be glad when we move out of here, soon i hope. also if Dr. Sharp has not increased the dose of medication, i would have been ok.
i don't quiete understand the medical organization these days. had suffered for the same illness for the past 3 yrs., i was constantly being taken to ER at least twice a week. i practically live in the ER section of the hospital all these years. Yet, they waitied for me to have a heart attack on 1/12/05 before the hospital authorities decide give me coronary angiography procedure. the heart specialist told me that two left arteries of my heart is partially blocked.... which can be remedied thru medication and no surgery is needed. i hope the coronary angiography procedure's result solve my problem.
Ada, i am slowly creeping to gain my strenght back. tv dinners and canned foods make me sick as i am not accustomed to them. been ages i have not gone grocery shopping. we went today, now i feel my energy's all drained out. it was well worth it, i made some shrimp éttouffée and salad greens for dinner.
if memory serve me right, Trish, Eric and Arlene live not too far apart at the time when Eric was still residing in Florida way back then... one of the few reasons why Trish enjoyed some or Eric's hybrid.
MaVie, glad you enjoyed the better food. Take care of yourself.
check this url http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/216183.html/ --> to confirm that Eric did indeed was the one who has Janet Reno for his hybrid. check Brugmansia post on Mar. 27, 2002 @ 12:33 p.m. Janet Reno photo http://www.brugmansia.us/brugmansiagallery/album82
What a shame Ma Vie that you got so sick before they took your ailments seriously. At least they now know what they are dealing with and can help you. It will take a while to get better so do not rush it. Thanks for doing the research on the brug. I will ask Trish why she would call it Janet Reno. LOL
