Willow Creek Trail

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

I thought I'd share a few pictures I took yesterday. Harley and I went for a walk on a nature trail nearby. It was a gorgeous sunny day. I don't know if anybody else likes moss as much as I do, especially this time of year when it looks so nice and fresh compared to everything else.

This is a picture of Harley waiting for me up the trail. He loves to run ahead but always stops to wait for me. I think he got a bit tired of me stopping every few minutes to take pictures.

The trail was pretty muddy in a few spots.

I think these are called licorice ferns.

I love the way trees grow over top of stumps.

Harley loves to look down at the water from the bridge.

Gorgeous pictures. Thanks for sharing your walk with us.

I loved your pictures Sandy. That's my idea of pure pleasure. Walking on a gorgeous early spring day on a peaceful trail. Never mind, just moss, I love anything "green". You and Harley remind me of me and Buddy when we go walking or hiking. He too, is always looking back as if saying "What is taking you so long...run!!!" :Donna

Thanks for the tour, looks like a great place for a walk, wish I could have been there, when I was growing up in the country we always for a walk in the woods by our place as the river was right by the house and the wood were right back there too, remember always looking for birds nests and how many we could find along with the wild raspberries and saskatoons we would eat along the way, and also another berry can't remember the name but it was black and had a flat seed, yummy.. thanks again as this brought back memories to me...

You're welcome. I love looking at everyone else's pictures so I just thought I'd share some greenery. I have to thank those of you from back east for making me think twice and appreciate it all more than I think I usually do.

I'd love to see pictures of where others walk their dogs so come on..... Donna - take the camera with you next time.

Here's the other place we walk which is just one street over. It was taken a month ago when we had a bit of snow. I'm afraid it's all starting to be bulldozed to make way for more houses. It's a very swampy area and it really saddens me when I hear the frogs over there and know that it will soon be a thing of the past. There's often a heron resting up in one of the trees. There used to be fish in the small stream but it was all diverted a few years ago and that was the end of them. I don't think they would have got away with it if anyone had realized what they were doing.

Just saw this thread.........what a wonderful looking area to walk a dog in and explore! Ü

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

Yes, it's a beautiful area Pam. I'm so glad that the Willow Creek Trail area will be saved from development thanks to the people who kindly donated it to the city. It's so nice to have the dog. He gets me out walking more than I would on my own and I just love it. Speaking of that....I'd better get out and walk the dog. LOL

Sandy, I just got home from an hour walk with Oscar. It's gorgeous out there today.

DH and I walk twice a day with our dog. The first time is usually before 6:00 am in the morning before DH goes to work and then before supper. I actually have shown you places where we walk the dog Sandy. Remember, the Columbia River photos and also the Blueberry Creek photos. We found two other trails last fall, and when we get out there in a couple weeks when everything dries up, I'll be sure to take my camera with me.

Yes, it was a gorgeous day today wasn't it Jeanne. One more like it then we're back to the wind and rain apparently. Got to enjoy it while we can. We'll have to get together and walk the dogs again soon. Doesn't the Willow Creek Trail tempt you? LOL

Okay Donna, I remember those photos. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of your two new trails.

p.s. I love the picture of your white dog against the green ferns and the moss just covering the trees! Boy can you tell I'm from the (normally) hot dry prairies. ;)

Good news, Sandy. Tamara Taggert on the weather tonight said that rain that was expected may not be coming and you just might see some more sun on Friday. Woo Hoo!

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

Yes, I noticed that too Donna. Yippeee!!

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

Here's another one for you Pam. I had to give him a biscuit to make him sit still for half a minute.

Great photos Sandy, looks like a nice area.

Great pictures Sandy, and Harley is so adorable! The most I've walked lately is out to feed the cats and dog and to the vehicle. It is warming up though, it was up to -3 today, and we finally saw the sun this week, first time in a couple of weeks. I always know it's getting warmer when the cats come out of the barn in the morning and sit on the deck to wait for me to come out with their food. Some morning I'll get my camera out and take some more pictures.

I don't blame you for not wanting to walk much in the cold Pat. I'm glad it's warming up a bit for you. When you get some pictures post them on here. I'd love to see them and I'm sure everyone else here would too.

Hi Sandy, I just caught up with this thread... Harley is a real cutie, and the trail looks wonderful. Thanks for these great photos! I love that one of him standing way ahead on the trail, waiting for you.

Thanks Shannon. It was a beautiful day today so we went around the trail again this afternoon. Harley was happy to meet up with a couple of doggy friends he met the other day.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Dogs are so great! I love them. (she typed, over the oblivious sleeping cat on her lap....)

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

LOL I love cats too but dogs are so neat because they're a friend always ready to do anything with you.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Exactly. Given the option I'd have both, 'cause they're completely different types of pets. Our schedules don't lend themselves well to doggies, but when I eventually quit my job we're going straight to the SPCA's dog section first thing! :-)
