Home grown Tomatoes in FEB!!!

Shannon, that is quite awesome, still eating your own tomatoes, picked green. Wrapped in newspaper?

Wouldn't mind a few of those seeds if you have any spare. I would love to not have to buy horrible tomatoes. probably so full of who knows what. Too cold to walk down to the organic food store at the mo. If not, guess I'll have to start looking in catalogues.

Thanks, Ginny! No newspaper, we just laid them out on a couple of woven cotton placements, in a bright room but not in direct sun - they gradually ripened. I'd say we lost about 10% of them, but the rest were fine - they ripened gradually over the course of the winter. It's a paste tomato, so the flavour may not be the type you're looking for - I thought they were ok for eating fresh though. Especially in January. Here's the link to their PF entry:

DSO just last night cooked the rest of them up !! - so I can't give you seeds!! :-( :-( That was an impressive lack of foresight on my part. But I'm planning to buy a half-dozen Super Marzano seedlings again this year, so I will definitely save some seeds and will have some to give you if you still want them then.

Tant pis. That always happens doesn't it, just when you want to save something. I'll look in various catalogues to see if I can find them. Have saved the name anyway.
