What a fabulous red!

I just planted an autumn red last year but wasnt able to see the bloom yet. How nice! Hope mine will do as nice as yours. Do you fertilize the daylily? and if yes than with what?
Thanks for a reply

Hi,
Glad you like it.
I got it last year in late April or May- just a bare root from Botanus here in Canada. It bloomed in mid July. I plant my daylilies in Whisky barrels in a fresh potting soil 1 part, shrimp compost 1 part and 1 part of sphagnum moss. They only have 3-4 hours of direct afternoon sun. Colors are deep red - not bleach by the sun " thanks" to many tall Norway Maples surrounding my back yard.
I just started collecting daylilies last year- don't have much to share- except that they are easy to grow and really beautiful.

Ula, you sound like you have a beautiful yard perfect for a nice shade garden also. Thank you for replying to my message as its nice to know that 4 hours of direct sun is enough for the daylily.
