CLOSED: Clematis fruticosa

Hampshire, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

I'm located in England in the UK and mostly interrested in Clematis. I have a collection of about 50 different plants and presently want to concentrate on the basic small flowerd species rather than the large flowered hybrids.

One I have been looking for for some time now is C. fruticosa. Its some times called "Mongolian Gold" and is not available in the UK or as far as I can find in Europe.

If any Vine Grower has seed of this species please let me know, seed can be sent by air mail without any regulation problems but plants are subject to severe restrictions for shipment to the UK. I have some clematis seed to trade from last season and should (with a good harvest) have plenty more before the end of this year.

Thanks,

Jackog,
I don't have the species you are after, but I just recently collected some seed of Clematis glycinoides http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/56879/index.html
one of our native Australian species and would be happy to send some for the equivalent of a SASE

Hi Ken,

That sound interesting, how tender is C. glycinoides?
also what is a SASE?
Thanks for your rapid reply, This is the first time I have posted on these forums, so I'm learning the rules.

Hi Kim,

C. tangutica is not very similar to C. fruticosa, although the the basic form of the flower is similar. Thanks for trying to help.
Best regards,
Jack
