CLOSED: I am looking for Peruvian Lily tubers

Gonzales, LA(Zone 9a)

Anyone like to make a trade, I would like to have a start of Peruvian lily, sometimes called Parrot lily. I have quite a few daylilies, elephant ears, bromelaids, gingers, yesterday-today-tomorrow, dahlia Imperlias, sky vine, cashmere bouquet, butterfly vine, wild petunia, white yarrow, Phillipine violet, purple jew, and many other items. Thanks

Our Wal-Mart has them, maybe yours does. It would be cheaper than postage and sending a plant to another person.

When you say Peruvian lily do you mean Alstromeria?
Judy, the Walmart has them? In boxes or pots?

Gonzales, LA(Zone 9a)

I put Alstromeria in the plant file so I could see what they look like and no file came up so I don't know that plant, but if you will put in Parrot liliy or Peruvian lily you can see what I am refering to. Our WalMart only seems to only get in the regular stuff, petunias and nothing unusual....sameole, sameole....you know what I mean.

I spelled it wrong it's alstroemeria, I left out the "e" . I checked our walmart, they don't have any. I have some coming up now, not sure which ones survived the move and our hot summer last year but figured if wallyworld had them it wouldn't hurt to plant some more.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

I bought gallon pots of alstroemeria at walmart late last summer for 5.97. Judy, are they already at your Walmart this year?

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Hey guys, I had them in my hot little hands last week. Hot little hands were right because I had fever but didn't know it. There were 4 boxes of whites on the 4 palletts of boxed bulbs that were delivered week before last. Out of the 4 boxes there were only 2 packages left. I picked them up then put them back because I just didn't feel good.

They were at the Wal-Mart in Corinth, MS. So Friday & today I'm all over this part of the world looking for them but I can't find them at any of the Wal-Marts, all other stores had a very small selection of bulbs.

I was at Sam's today, they had bulbs some Lily but they were badly picked over, probably only 1/3 of them left.

Trust me if I ever see them again, I'll buy all they have and post here.

dayflower,

When you do get the Alstroemeria, you may want to plant it where you don't mind if it runs rampant. The last time I read about the problem, the Botanical Gardens in Berkeley, CA was having a hard time getting rid of them because they are very deep rooted and invasive. I think they are lovely, but have decided to heed the Garden's warning.

They had/have them at Lowes and Home Depot, too...

Also in my zone, they run rampant, they will literally take over, even places and beds that they are not near... Pretty plant, but make sure you like it all over, lol.. Mine are the reddish with the green throat..they spread by seed and little bubblets.

I have the new hybrids, shorter plants, larger flowers, haven't spread for me and I've had these about three years(one year in ground in TX). I remember the old fashioned ones I had in TN spread there too, but not invasive.
