my wifes 60 birthday week

this has nothing to do with recipes but i just wanted to pass on how i tried to make her birthday special.
her bday is feb 11th. i normally begin leaving her cards and small gifts (scratch off lottery.
, her favorite candy, etc) 10 days before the big event. since this was a special birthday i wanted to something different than the surprise party routine. yesterday, feb 5th, is a work day for me. i got up at 4 a.m. as usual but i went into the computer room and stayed there until 7:30. i woke her up by singing happy birthday to you etc. i told her i was taking the day off so we can have a nice big breakfast at our favorite diner. when we arrived we were greeted by 16 of our closest friends. she was shocked and thrilled. after we said good by we went back home and about 3 hours later these same friends came to my house for lunch. i ordered a 3 ft. hero and some pizzas. after they said good by my two sons and i told her we were going out to dinner at 7:30 that night. when we arrived the same people were there and we had the greatest time.
i know i'm rambling on here but was proud of myself that i was able to pull this off without her knowing anything.
