Greetings from north Florida. I am a new subscriber! I am originally from south GA close to Savannah. I grew up loving to help both of my grandmothers in their gardens and kitchens. I loved the smell of the narcissus and hyacinths in the gardens of one grandmother. She always had lovely maidenhair fern growing in a wicker plant stand. I loved the Granddaddy greybeard tree, the bearded iris and the little blue flowers that covered the St Augustine grass yard in the spring at my other grandmother's house. I spent many hours looking through the seed catalogs that came in the mail and I still love to do that. After college I moved to Atlanta where I married and gardened there for several years before moving to Gainesville, Florida. I had to adjust some of my gardening skills to the heat and humidity of Florida. My brugmansias are one of my loves in my own 2 acre yard. They grow to about 8 feet tall in the summer and flower until the cold comes. I also love my camellias. I have about 30 in my yard now. We also have a koi/goldfish pond in our front yard. I am trying to get some pitcher plants started in there. We named our home "Hummingbird Hollow" because we have so many hummers in the summer.I love all kinds of birds and have lots of feeders and houses for the birds. My husband is not the gardener I am but he humors me sometimes by helping out with heavy chores. I have 4 sons, ages 17-28. My 22 year old son has Down Syndrome and he is the best help I have in the garden. We garden and then we jump in the pool in the summer to cool off. I also love to cook, needlepoint and knit. I look forward to chatting with the folks in the forums of Dave's Garden.

hello from mid hudson area in upstate new york.
STR's, welcome to Daves. Would love to see pictures of your brugmansia. They are my most favorite flower. I had over 150 plants last year. Hope you will come join us on the brugmansia and friends forum one day. I'm glad your son loves to garden with you. There is something to be said for that closeness that comes when we garden with our kids. Hope to talk to you soon.

Greetings from the tornado capital of America where we garden and hope a brisk wind doesn't snatch the plants up. :)
If you have any questions, just holler.
