St Augustine Grass seed

Fort Lauderdale, FL

Has anyone ever started St. Augustine grass from seed???

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Yes I have. What ya want to start it in? Whatever ya use. Make a mix of some soil, and sand, and a little bit of peat if ya have. 3-1 is a good combination. 3parts soil to 1 part sand

Garden soil is fine is it is weed free. Just sprinkle the seed on and keep it misted if it a small container you are doing. If your doing a lawn, cover with some pine straw and water in good.

If it for a child's experminet place a sponge in some water dish and just sow the seed on top of it. Keep it really damp and you wil have a patch of seed.

LOl we grew almost 40 different types of grass seed in hanging baskets for Turfgrass management for fun.

Does anyone have extra seeds to trade?

Great!! Now where to find the seed..Thanks

http://grass4sale.com/ - The seeds have to be bought in bulk

Here's 36 plugs

Hope this helps. The plugs seem like the best bet. I'll see if I can think of another place.

Geeman.... How much seed are you looking for? Too bad I didn't know earlier. I had about 36 vials of different grass seeds. I just checked and only kept the Kentucky Blue grass to remind me of the North and the Buffalo grass cuz the name is so funny as is the seeds.

I don't know for sure, but if it only a little amount your looking for, I may be able to get some seed. Not sure and probably wouldn't know til later in the week.

that would be awesome.... let me know what ya find.
