A very beautiful photo of a very beautiful rose. I have The Fairy and it is doing extremely well in an area where I have not had much success with other rose bushes.

Looks like a beautiful plant. Are the roses fragrant and do they re-bloom throughout the summer?

Thank you so much for the compliments, Pyrola and Secluded. I have a collector mentality - one of everything; but I find this rose so charming, I have 8 of them! I have 6 shrubs lining one side of the driveway and 2 tall "trees" flankning the front door - they make lovely cascading trees, by the way. Here they blooms CONSTANTLY from early March until late December. After each flush of blooms, I "shear" them like hedges, and they repeat the show. In fact, this photo was taken around Christmas 04, when no other rose in my garden had so much as a bud!

Because this photo was taken in late December, it does not even depict the plant at its best, and I hesitated to submit it to the PlantFile. Most of the summer, these little plants are loaded with blooms. During that time, I was so busy trying to get photos of the larger roses, that I neglected to snap a single pic of this hard-working shrub. Also, if you notice, the branch in the photo is on the ground. This photo was of a low branch that eluded pruning and escaped to bloom outside the intended contours of the bush.

Oh, AND they are very easy to propagate from stem cuttings or from low branches pinned to the ground.

Secluded, I have not noticed a fragrance. The Plant file mentions "slight fragrance". From my experience it is not one of those that perfume the entire yard or room (such as double delight or Mr Lincoln). I have 100+ roses so I tend only to notice the "knock you down" fragrances.

If you are looking for a small shrub that will bloom its heart out with minimal care, this is the one. Also, for a white rose that looks very similiar, grows like a weed, blooms endlessly, and gets more compliments than the "big" roses, check out my photo under alba meidiland.

Thanks again,

That is so beautiful. Mine was blooming late in the Fall. I kept waiting for it to stop so I could get it ready for Winter. I am glad to know it propagates easily. There are other areas in my yard that could use a bush like this. I love roses but because I do not have a lot of sun, haven't had much success until I found the Fairy. I shall have to check out your white one also.

There is also a white version called Crystal Fairy (Jackson & Perkins sells it) and a Red Fairy. I like Crystal Fairy - it blooms heavily and stays relatively small like The Fairy. I found the Red Fairy a little disappointing because it's more of a dark rose than a true red; so far mine is not blooming consistently.

But that Alba Meidiland is probably my favorite; its pretty incredible, grows very fast, blooms non-stop, gets rave reviews from visitors, AND roots everywhere it rests on the ground - lots of plants for friends. If you are interested, I could try to send you a few rooted cuttings (when weather improves). Email me, if interested. Best wishes for propagating your Fairy. Sheryl
