Tazzy ... that's "ionantha" (pronounced "eye-oh-nan'tha") :o) It probably died of a terminal identity crisis. (just kidding, of course)
That clump was blooming quite nicely, what happened?
house to dry i sprayed with mist once a week , i just have a way with house plants , i am the Black Widow of house plant growing
Well ... not sure what time of year it was, local humidity conditions, etc. ... but I would imagine that a slightly more frequent watering (misting) schedule combined with outdoor summer vacations would help with many of the countless broms that are available to us regular folk. My ex girlfriend couldn't keep plants worth a poo either ... of course, she was rather psychiatrically challenged and more than a little bit on the lazy side. I've been assured that this is not a common trait amongst all Okies! :o)
I've had mixed luck with some ionantha... not quite sure why, though. I once had a collection of over 800 tillandsias and orchids and killed the entire lot of them one winter. Funny ... but I never really considered the fact that this coincided with that lunatic devil of an ex live-in. Oh well .... my wife now would probably not approve of converting one of our bedrooms into a make shift greenhouse! :o)
WOW ... I am RAMBLING, Taz!!!!
I encourage you to not give up on these plants! I find them to be uniquely beautiful and easy to care for once one understand their particular needs and learn to recognize when they're unhappy. Sadly ... ionantha often show signs of distress just about the time that it's too late. You've got to admit, though ... there's a wonderfully simple beauty to these things, especuilly when in bloom, huh? :o)
