Has anyone lined and used this items for a planter? If so any and all advice will be appreciated.
3 tier metal hanging kitchen baskets
Do you mean the 3 tiered "meshy" kind meant for fruit or such? I did this years ago and found that they really weren't strong enough to hold all that soil and a liner and plants that keep on growing. :-)
Hi, thanks for your almost"instant" reply. Yes, we are talking about the same thing. My theory was that if the mesh like baskets can hold fruit, onions, etc. they could, most likely hold diret and a lightweight plant like the beautiful Blue Daze or little portulacas...not a heavily-rooted plant. what do ya think?
I just found that they weren't strong enough and tended to begin to "bow" as time went on. Moistened soil and the liner and something like Swedish Ivy or other trailing indoor kind of plants were a great idea, but it just didn't work out. Half a dozen apples or onions apparently aren't the same as pounds of soil etc. I found it to be messy also.....but that was probably just me. :-)
oh well, nice thought-I'll take your advice as save myself alot of frustration. thank you. jean
