Seeds & question about them

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I have some seeds of the jamacan yellow and tequila sunrise, the jamacan yellow were pulled early and seeds are tan not dark brown, Question is. Why do we want to grow them if there's a chance they all can come out white or will they be jamacan yellow and the other tequila sunrise. If I germinate them all, and have so many brugs, I won't be able to call them jamacan yellow and tequila sunrise will I? cause they might turn out some other color right?

SOOOO!
What does a person do with all the seeds? LOL

Maybe it depends on the amount of space one has. I have plenty of space and I don't care if mine are named or unknown, for me, the important thing is that they like living here and will thrive despite our hot, humid, too wet or too dry, with freezing winters. If I really have one I don't like, I'll give it away. I have a garden plan and this year, I will attempt to grow more trees, as tall as I can grow them, and eventually have them in groupings or bordering curved beds or in rows. I guess it's a matter of individual taste. For the last 20 years or so, I've worked and I've not been able to spend as much time gardening as I would like. As a matter of fact, I didn't know I liked it as much as I do. So, now, I'm working at home and have considerably more time for gardening and since I have the space, I'm going to try to fill it all up!!

Kathy, I received some tiny tan seeds, too tiny to peel, but they are sprouting and I hope they will be nice seedlings. Since I sprouted them, I assume that their size/color has little to do with sprouting....

Kathy_Ann, It depends on how much room you have. You never know which seed may be that SPECIAL seed. I bet you will love to see blooms, even if they are white!!

Kathy, anything you get from the seeds will be a new hybrid. You can't call them by the name of the mother or the father, only by the name of the cross (both parents) or if they are special, you will give them a special name. It's always a good guess for those of us who haven't kept records over the years to know what the seedlings from a particular cross will be. Sometimes we get really lucky. LOL!

Thanks for all the advice, you guys make me want to plant these seeds LOL.

Sherrylike, your not too far from me, do you leave your brugs out all year? even the ones that grow into trees? don't they die of frost, and have to sort of start all over if they come up in the spring? I have a couple brugs planted outside now cut them down to the ground, we'll see if they come back in the spring. their the common ones, frosty and insignus pink.

I went alittle crazy in teh greenhouse propigating things I never know what i'm gonna do with them all, LOL, now I have no room for things I really want in there. LOL gonna have to just bite the bullet and give it away.

Kathy, I'm on the border of zone 7b and zone 8a, depends on the map used. The trees will be brought in for the winter, I rooted one last year and it's inside, growing out the top of a sky light, we open it on nice days. Everything else is left outside. I take cuttings but I do not cut them to the ground, because the closer to the ground they are cut, the longer it will take them to return, because there is nothing to cut to stimulate growth after the last frost. The one I wintered outside, grew to 10-12 feet the first year and 15 feet the second year. None might survive this year, no way to know, but I'll give them Epsom salt and see what happens. If none survive, I'll grow all seedlings this growing season...
