SHOOT! Only reason

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

`why I say this in this thread is because this is where most of my friends hang out.

Today, when I was in physical therapy, getting ready for it anyways, someone backed into my car.

I wasn't even in the room yet, not in my gown, and my therapist saw it happen through the window. He at the moment didn't even know it was my car.

He just said "hey, someone just backed in and bashed a car in the parking lot." I knew my car was out there and said "what"? He said "That blue one right there" as he ran out the door.

MY Car _ Don't I have the best of luck.

Call me stupid or call me nice, but the woman who did it works in that complex, I had witnesses, and all I got from her was her card

She was very nice. And my car is an old 1990.

Call me incredibly nice or incredibly stupid, but I don't thiink she should have to pay for all that damage - at least $800 as my hubby sees it.

I would NEVER want to be a bottom feeder.

I think we can forget the dent and just make sure all the lights and the plastic frames around the lights should be fixed..

She could probably pay that out of pocket and would not affect her insurance.

I guess what I am saying is that she made a common mistake on her lunch hour, in a very tight parking area, and it could have been me as well.

Russ thinks $800. I think $100 or less. I am not that concerned about the dent or the money - that is me though.

Any thoughts? Girlfriends? Boyfriends?

Car repairs are extremely expensive! Like your Husband said the Higher amount is most likely close to the repair cost. Why are you not going through your ins. Co. ? Is it just for the consideration of the person who ran into you?

I only made that mistake once and was the nice Person and agreed not to report an accident not caused by me. All I can say is I Will Never Do That Ever Again! I never saw that person again, all info given was false! I hope all does work out well for you. Kin

that is why there is insurance.....and if the person is a decent person, they will have insurance that will cover this....go get your estimates, then send them to her...if you get no reply send them to your insurance company, and beleive me, they will get in touch with her

it sounds to me like you need to be looking out for #1...and that would be you....you can be nice later by telling her thank you for turning it over to her insurance company

Karrie -- I will reiterate what has already been said. That's why we buy insurance. You need to give the information to your Insurance Ageny and let them handle it from here. They will probably have you fix your car and then subrogate against the woman's insurance company to collect the loss. You should not have to pay for someone else's carelessness. Regardless of the circumstances. JMHO

Someone hits my car, they pay - if I hit theirs, I pay, it's why we have insurance! The best thing is that no one was hurt!!!!!!!

I hope you got her insurance company. If not, the DOT should have it.

We always carry uninsured motorist too, in case the other guy doesn't carry insurance, which is illegal in our state, but they do it.

My 2 cents? She should pay the whole amt. to fix it! No good turn goes unpunished with cars and houses! You can bet your bottom $$$ she would make you pay if it was the other way around!!! I am heartless when it comes to things like that...have been hoodwinked before...ONCE. Person handed me 100$ to fix it...I accepted...total repair cost, 600$. Who is smiling now?....not me!!! GRrrrrrrr.

Most insurance companies will ask you to get a couple of independent estimates before beginning any repair work. Usually you will get a high bid and a lower one. The price to repair the vehicle is usually somewhere in the middle. Once you have some concrete prices, then you can decide whether to proceed & fix your car.

Mistakes happen to EVERYONE! The main thing to remember is that cars are much easier to repair, than people are! I'm so glad that you were NOT injured!! That's the last thing you would need at this point!!!

i'm glad your not injured, that's the most important. ditto with our brug friends. that's why we have insurance.

I don't know what the law is there, but here we have 3 years to file, yes that is correct 3 yrs.... I have 48 hours to report, find out what your laws are, I have been in your situations before, but had time because of the law to take action. I have always gotten their insurance info and report it, then I get estimates and give it to the person that hit me, if they don't want to continue with insurance they pay, if not it straight to the insurance co. Most people here try not to go thru insurance if possible ( Due to what it cost to get insurance) My daughter just started driving, I had her added to my insurance, just liability cost me 2000.00 more a year, thats under my name with her as an additional driver. if she has an accident I would probably get on both knees and beg not to go thru insurance. lol I try to do exactly what your thinking of doing but also remember some people will try to screw you over. Be very careful if you do this and, contact this person all the time until it is taken care of.

get an estimate from a body shop, its free
then go from there
if it minimal an you don't want to go thru the hassle then blow it off
but there might be damage you can't see

and who knows who else she has BUMPED into
or if she will report that YOU hit her......

Hi,

It was actually worse than I originally thought, and I'm getting some estimates today. The lady who hit me is very very nice. It will all work out. I think I was a little freaked the day it happened. Amazing what a day or two will do to your head, lol!
