cool Alice. Were all the blooms that way??

WoW! That is one interesting Bloom!!!!
I like it Very Much. I just got a Culebra and can't wait to see the blooms on it.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Very interesting, Alice! Oddly enough, I kinda like it.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Looks like it is related to Buddhist's Hand. LOL! Don't ask me why? It just reminded me of one when I first glanced at at. Not as plump and I'm sure wouldn't taste as good.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

KEWL!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow, Alice. That bloom is different.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I'll say.......very strange.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Has it had more than one bloom? If they are all that way, 'Ribbons' would be a perfect name. Who are the parents?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Any fragrance?

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

that is realy different.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Very unusual, I love it!!! So different...but it sorta looks like it might have been planted a little close to a nuclear plant, ya think??!!

Very interesting. Is it similar to "Shredded Fantasy"?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, awesome because it looks so different... nature is so full of surprises. I am wondering the same... how is the scent? Thanks, Jackie

Neato, Alice! I've had Jamaica Yellow bloom shredded a couple of times and it was ugly. Yours is not ugly. It's kind of neat looking.

I LOVE the shreddeds and have two pods on shredded white (X Rosamond). 'Can't wait to see if they do anything.

Does anybody know how they relate to doubles? They surely MUST have started out somewhere as doubles.

Wow Alice that's really different.

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

How unusual Alice :)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

That is soooooo cooool!!! It's a keeper!

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Definitely different. Iteresting that the shredded trait passed its genes on to the new seedling.

I had a brug I bought last year flower this way. The vendor contacted their contract grower who said the parent brug from which my plant had been taken was not shredded flowered...weird huh? The brug was a Jamaican Yellow.

Sorry for not back until tonight.

The first blooms were in spring. All have been like this so far.
This cross is Shredded x Butterfly.

Everyone laughs at this one. Blooms hang like mops.
But, it's pretty neat (o:

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Are you thinking of registering it yet? I love it. Let us know when it available.

Daisy

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Daisy,
Thanks for your kind support. It is appreciated.

Yes, I will register some time this year. I would like one more flush to make sure stable. Spring will make the full circle so I will do it then.

As far as registry ..
All my hybrids have been registered with BGI (Brugmansia Growers International).

Alice, I LOVE the white shredded. I think you've gotten us on the right road here! 'Can't wait for a really pretty pink or orange one!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I think it is quite unique. Alice, have you seen the BGI Family Tree? It has over 700 named brugs with the cross and hybridizer (where known) and a photo (when available). It continues to develop every day and is accessible by non-members.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Alice,

Thanks for resonding. Can't wait to add that one to my collection.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I would like to know when it's available also, it's a "GOTTA HAVE" kind

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi lhughes,
Thanks for your info.
I did register for the Family Tree, but I have not had the time to go back and submit info.
In the future, I will probably just introduce my new ones at our canna site .. http://www.karcheskycanna.com/ ... under "New Introductions".

I registered my new plants with BGI last year as their process is not complicated.
I belonged to ABADS, also. But at some point last year midway thru my membership, I could no longer get into their site. And never a notice my membership were due again. ???
So could not register there.
But when there, their process is long and complicated. A busy grower, I seldom have time.
And when things don't work right, frustrating, or too much time .. I give up )o;

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

In defense of the ABADS registration, you don't have to fill out each and every thing they have there. I couldn't answer some of the questions because I had not kept records to that depth and my memory isn't that good. At first I hesitated and then I just did it and FM was registered. I received a nice certificate of registration in the mail. I sure wasn't expecting that. I don't think that the forums there have anything to do with the rest of the site, but yes, when they made some forum changes, I think I had to write to someone for a new password or something and after some emails, I got back in to the forums.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I had no problems at all. I waited patiently until the forums change was completed :-)
ABADS is the official registrar for Brugmansias and only official registrated names are protected. For that reason, I register my brugs in the ISHS (or is it IHSH lol) through ABADS.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Shirley and Monika,
I did have problems.
I did not know what went on, but did not work for me.

Monika,
I am also a member ISHS. I register our cannas thru them.
Perhaps, I should just register brugs via them, too.

Thank you both for your information.
Alice

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Here is the ISHS link if anyone is interested.
Alot of learning can be found here.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Boy, now there is a lot of reading for a nasty winter day. Thanks Alice.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Thank you Alice. I read all about it when I filed for the registration of my hybrids.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

The Family Tree is not an official registry, but is a list of known used names and the parents, if known, of the cross. It can be looked at by anyone. I am a member of ABADS, BGI and DG and am not a hybridizer so I know my interests are different from those of you who are.

Carlisle, PA(Zone 6b)

Hey guys the chat room is open.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Buttoneer.. you are in Carlisle?
I PA, too. .. SW

Ozark, AL(Zone 8b)

Don't worry Alice, your registered names are safe.
The cultivar names registered at BGI are very official, in that they are and will continue to be published and 'known' as well as publicly available for searching; as such, any other Brugmansia registry is required to recognize them as registered names, and act accordingly. If it doesn't then the registrar isn't doing their job, and the first person to have registered the name would take precedence, and the later submission would have to change the name. Your registered names are quite safe, whichever registry you use.

I too joined ISHS, but was unaware that I could register directly through them. It's nice to know, even if I don't feel the need at this time. Btw, I love this shredded thing! Very different!.
