Ornamental Oregano seeds (Kent Beauty) , they are so dang expensive at the different sites I've visited (the plants I mean), so I'm trying to get the seeds. Do you have them? If you have the seed's I may have something you'll want for trade. Thanks, Jill

Hi, Jill,
I was born in Des Moines (many years ago). Haven't been back since I was 12, but remember my childhood there with great fondness. Can you grow oregano outside there? I would have thought the winters would do it in.
I have an ornamental oregano that is most elegant, although I don't think it is Kent Beauty. It carries its showy pink bracts on leafed wiry stems about a foot above the ground-hugging plant. The leaves are slightly fuzzy and a light grayish green. I have never tried saving the seed but will try this next year. But my oregano dries beautifully and I just went and broke off some bracts from a couple of dried arrangements I made in the summer. I am not sure whether I detect seeds in them or not but would be happy to send you some of the dried bracts if you would like to see what you think.
I am including some photos of it both fresh and dried. Although I did not specifically take a picture of this plant during the summer, you can get a glimpse of it at the far left center in the picture with lavendar and santolina. It is the ephemeral plant just in front of the rosemary with its rosette of fuzzy leaves at the base. It's very pretty!
