Even after heavy snows and zero temps, the seed heads are beautiful when backlit by a setting sun.

What an unusual and beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing it.

Glad someone looked at it, ha. I forgot all about it. I do love the grass seedheads, though, with the light coming through them. They are lovely in the morning, too.

I used to have pampas grass but it became so large in my small yard that I had to eradicate it. It was very difficult to dig up. I still miss the seedheads. I have planted Ruby Grass 'Pink Crystals ™' (Rhynchelytrum nerviglume) which only grows to about 2 feet tall. I planted it where I am able to see it well in morning and late afternoon sunlight. It did not bloom last year while it was in a container. I hope it does now that it is in the ground.

I can't tell you how many times I wasted money and effort trying to grow Pampas grass here, LOL. It's amazing that invasive plants down south are like gold here.
I broke down and bought a Duranta 'Sapphire Showers' on impulse yesterday. I think it is real similar to the 'Sweet Memories' one you have. I am going to check it out now.
I also got a 'Peter Pan' agapanthus. I need help! I can't stop acquiring more plants!!! Have to stop these out of town trips, I guess. Not much here locally.
Hope your new Ruby grass blooms for you.

I have a small cutting of the "Sweet Memories" with your name on it. The 'Peter Pan' agapanthus is the dwarf one, right? I gave up on both the regular size and the dwarf because they grew great but never bloomed even after moving them to different locations searching for a spot where they would be happy. After throwing the bulbs in a remote area of my yard, they just hung around there for 3 years putting out small leaves even though they were not planted in dirt .I salvaged 3 of the regular ones because they just wouldn't die. I figured that they were not meant to die so I repotted them. Let me know if your sweet 'Peter Pan' do well for you.

Wow, I went over to that old thread about Sweet Memories...we sure did a lot of talking on that one: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/407585/
I feel selfish taking a cutting from you now...wonder if the cultivars are very different? One person commented that her 'Sweet Memories' was chocolate-scented. Is yours? That would be nice. My intentions for the Duranta (when I got your cutting) was to train it into a standard (a long process for sure). The one I bought is already very bushy and compact...not very good for a standard. So, if you are still saving it for me (along with the osmanthus fragrans that I hope is rooting) and you don't feel that I am being a hog, I will take it!
I, too, have an agapanthus that only bloomed once (big one). This 'Peter Pan' one has a big flower scape emerging, so I know it will bloom at least once, too. I will post a picture when it does (if I don't miss it on vacation) and you can tell me if you want a piece of it. You might want some 'Sapphire Showers', too.
