You are all so kind. I am on a break from the ICU now, they kick us out from 2 to 4 PM, from 6PM to 8:30 and then after 10 PM to 10 AM. At first I thought it was mean of them to do that, but now I realize how much taking breaks help relieve some of the terrible stress. There are just to many of them.
They tried to take her off the respirator yesterday, but with in 10 minutes she stopped breathing. So they had to intubate her again immediately. This was a huge set back for us. The good news is that they gave her Versad, a med that not only knocks you out but also takes away any memory you might have had about the procedure. Why remember the bad stuff?
She then had a bronchoscopy for the doctor thought she had aspirated during the extubation. They gave her Versad again so she has no memory of them doing this to her. For this I am so thankful.
The only problem was for the rest of the day she kept pointing to her tube and making the pull out motion. She knew they were going to take it out and wanted to know when. She was really looking forward to getting rid of it. I didn't want to tell her they had already tried and failed.
Anyway, it is all in God's hands now. I just hope she does not have to suffer too much more. That is the hardest thing to watch.
My boy is coming to see us tomorrow from NY. I haven't seen him yet this visit to the East coast. So I am excited and so is Grandma! LOL. It will be a bright spot in her weekend.

Kell...it sounds like your mother is very awake and aware...I have the feeling that she is just going to make it through all of this! I pray that she does.

Always remember...Doctors are Practicing Medicine...they should practice on someone else for a while!!!! Maybe if they practiced on eachother they would learn...!!!
I feel for emotional rollercoaster you both are on...hope it stops soon and you can both get off and be healthy and happy.

Kell - I don't even know what is going on - I skipped over. You are in my prayers - in fact, I already prayed for you and your mom before saying this.
