I bought a gorgeous Begonia maculata from logees.com last spring. They have a nice selection of very pretty ones.

I've had some luck at local plant sales and some of the high end nurseries have a variety of nice ones, usually in their floral dept. They aren't cheap anywhere it seems. :-)

Here are a couple of online sources:

RUK - Have you ever been to the Logee's Nursery in CT? It's the BEST! A fellow DGer introduced me to the place last fall and I'm totally addicted now!

Good luck, Kathy ann! If you are patient, you can probably make trades in the Spring. The price is right and you get a nice sampling of fellow DGer's growing all over your house! Gives them even more beauty and a special meaning! JMO!

I have just become acquainted with this beautiful plant this winter. A friend gave me one for my birthday and actually I purchased one last summer. I have raised the wax begonia bedding plants outside and they are really quite pretty. I would love to try the tuberous begonias but my thumb just isn't that green. Any tricks for starting these beauties? I had read where you start them in peat moss?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.Your link Happenstance showed some gorgeous specimens. I can see a new collection for in the house.

lenjo, I haven't tried the tuberous ones either, they have beautiful flowers on them though.

in the spring our lowes and walmart sells the tuberous begonias in those bags that the iris's and daylilies come in also.

Sequee,
no, I have never visited Logee's in person, I just bought Passifloras "and stuff" online from them. The website is a real problem - you can't order just one :-)
Perhaps I should make a shopping trip in person, take a van????

Yeah, and pick me up on the way - LOL! It's a truly wonderful experience! I went there to "look at their brugs" ended up falling in love with the Begonias and getting COMPLETELY hooked on cacti! PS - Nemingers.com is going out business and is selling stuff at rock botton prices. If they have any stock left, you might want to check out their passis. Such a deal!!!
