This recipe makes alot , its a favorite for Family Gatherings, it originates from a 'Tea Room' in Altoona,Ia. called "Through the Tea Room Window" --- the Tea Room is no longer open. The recipe came to me in 1999 from a good friend in a cookbook of tried and true recipes from the Tea Room.
Glazed Ham Balls
Pre-heat Oven to 300
2 LBS ground Ham (your butcher can grind it up for you)
2 LBS ground Pork
1 LB ground Beef
3 Cups graham cracker crumbs ( I just buy the 'already crushed' in the baking isle)
3 eggs, and 1 cup of milk
Mix well, (hands work best-lol!) shape into 2 1/2 " balls, place in two 9 X 13" pan
pour on the glaze mix (recipe to Follow) ... also ... I dont usually make them that big! Mine are usually more like an inch & 1/2.
Glaze: 2 cans Tomato soup
2 Teasp prepared mustard
2 Cups Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup vinegar
Bake at 300 degree's ...covered, 2 hrs., remove covering during last 30 min. to crisp the Ham Balls
If making for a Pot-Luck I make and cook these in the oven the evening before and place the Ham balls in a crock pot on low the next day 1 HR BEFORE SERVING. I usually make extra sauce for the following day too.
