CLOSED: Salvia Seeds - 6 Different Species - Brain Contest!

(Zone 7a)

Hi Everyone, I thouht this would be a fun way to give away my Salvias. You will receive 6 different species from the Salvia family (surprise). Note that one was hard to find...LOL

All you have to do is answer the 3 questions and post your answer here. The person who gets all three right first wins! These questions will enhance your Biblical, Gardening, and Mathematical skills...ha ha ha ha

1. He was stopped by an Angel on his road to Damascus. What was his name at the time? Also name a book of the Bible he wrote.

2. It uses carbohydrates which are synthesized from carbon dioxide and water using light as an energy source. Most forms release oxygen as a byproduct. It is a process... of the living organism lacking the power of locomotion. What is this called?

3. I bought 3 1/2 pounds of Strawberries on Monday. I ate 1 2/3 on Tuesday. How many pounds did I have left on Wednesday?

Saul, I think. Then, Paul. Seems like he wrote half the New Testament! Including first & second Corinthians.

Not sure if you're talking about photosynthesis here or the plants that use it.... photosynthesis produces carbos rather than using them, but maybe that's what you meant? I'm pretty sure no photosynthetic plants locomote as we'd think of it, unless you count bending & growing toward the light. Slime molds are the only plants I can think of that actually have means of locomotion, and they don't do photosynthesis.

By the end of the day on Wednesday? I'm guessing zero. I know that would be true for me!

I hope you love strawberries as much as I do, because I really love salvias! :-)

Eeeeewwwwww....LOL LOL LOL

oooh, wait, if we're supposed to do *math* here, then maybe you're looking for how many pounds of strawberries you started with on Wednesday, which would be almost 2 pounds (1 5/6).... you're not going to make me convert to ounces, are you?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Hey, slime molds are actually pretty cool. You can put one in a dish and feed it different colors of oatmeal (use food coloring), and it will turn different colors. They don't call me a critterologist fer nuthin! *chuckle*

Very Very Fast contest!

Critterologist WINNER!!!!

1. Saul, Corinthians (Saul was his name when the Angel stopped him, turned into Paul later)

Wooohoooo!

I can't remember the last time I won anything! and to win *salvia seeds* -- thanks, Kim!

For all those tuning in later, I promise I'll do my best to grow these into plants and save seeds to offer in turn!

Makes the blue sky we're enjoying here today even sunnier.

Kim, thanks for the fabulous collection of Salvia that arrived today! I'm so excited!!! I'm going to create a "Salvia Corner" in your honor, right next to the oriental lily bed that went in last year! I've already looked them up in PF (wheeee-la!), and now I'll get to seed-starting.

For the curious, here's the list of goodies that Kim sent me:

S. forskaohlei (Indigo Woodland Sage)
S. recognita (tall pink sage)
S. lyarata, 'Purple Knockout'
S. coccinea (Scarlet Sage)
S. sclarea (Clary Sage)
S. nemorosa (Woodland Sage), 'Ostfriesland', aka 'East Friesland'

Thanks again, Kim! This is fabulous fun!!
