my brugmansia/tree datura

Tucson, AZ

Well, my happy brugdat is living on my sheltered porch with my two dogs. As I previously mentioned, it never did well in the house and never had more than a few leaves on it although it is about four feet tall. What do I feed him and why hasn't brugdat flowered??Does he have a special diet?? Is it a language problem. Does he speak Portugese? Help!

IS it a brug or a dat ? They are two different plants.

as scooter said is it a Brug, or a Datura, I don't know that much about either, but learning, I do know that here Daturas are not Perenial so you have to plant every year, Brugs can be wintered in the house or greenhouse, but cannot tollerate freezing weather, it also needs to 'rest' for awhile in the winter.

If it is a datura, it would live outside just fine. Might die back with a frost, but would come back from the roots. The brug probably would too. It just takes longer for a brug to get back up to blooming size if it dies back with a frost.

It has to be a brug as it is about three feet tall I would say and doesn't look like my datura. Why hasn't it flowered in two years or gotten more leaves and what do I feed it?

No Kell. Joanie lives in Arizona and they would overwinter for her.

Anyway, don't know if it is a datura or a brug. In either case, what do I feed the brat to get it to grow and flower?? Joanie

I wonder if the plant needs more light. Dats seem to bloom fairly fast. I wonder if it is a brug. Any good fertilizer should help. They are not that picky I have found. I am big on foliar feeding miracle grow. Brugs are heavy feeders though dats I understand are not. How long has it been in its pot? How big is it? Most get rootbound fairly fast and like a nice big, deep pot to grow in.

I am getting ready to start some Dat. seeds so they will be ready to plant out when I start my garden. my Brugs are doing great and I hope they flower this summer, are there some that takes a couple of years, I don't want to know, but I must lol
I just posted a new pic. of Mayer
