Kitchen Toppers for Blinds

We've been in this new house for a year now and I'm in the mood to paint and add some color to the kitchen. We have blinds up at the windows and sliding glass door but I would like to put some type of topper above them to add color and go with the paint.

I'm having trouble finding anything I like--everything is too country or kitchen. My idea is to use napkins (I found the perfect ones) to make triangle valances. Does anyone have any insight they can offer me or lead me to how to do this if it is even possible.
