Thanks!

I have a couple other amaryllis varieties in or about to bloom. I'd like to add them to the database too, but I couldn't figure out how to make a new entry, just how to add to an existing one. Who do I ask / Where do I look?

If it were me, I'd list them under the general Amaryllis file: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/91/index.html.

But this way... you don't get your pic showing up as a thumbnail when people look up Amaryllis.

I'm not really sure who could ID them for you, maybe go to one of the Amaryllis society sites and try to find your flowers in their picture database.

Good luck and I'll be checking for those pics when they come!

They were from labeled bulbs, so I know the ID.

The problem is that I can't figure out how to make a new file for a specific kind of amaryllis. I thought that would be the better way to do it so the pic does show up as a thumbnail.

I also need to learn how to make a new entry so I can list things that aren't in the plant files....

I'm hoping you can point me to this information!

Thanks!

Jill

Ohhhh, I see what you're asking now. Once you click on the plantfiles tab at the top of the page, look right below it and lick on "Add a plant".

Here's what will go where.
Common name: Amaryllis
Family: Amaryllidaceae
Genus: Hippeastrum
Species: leave blank
Cultiver: Blossom Peacock

If you're adding another kind of plant, use the pre-existing entries to help you. You'll have your family, genus spelled out for you and all you have to do is come up with the species.

Hope I've helped.

Thank you thank you!

I don't know why I wasn't finding that.....

I appreciate your patience as well as your help!

My Blossom Peacock is in bud right now, I'm so impatient to see the flowers!

I'll be posting a pic when it blooms.

No prob! I'll be expecting to see alot of your additions to the plantfiles in the future!
