FRIED TURNIPS --Virgil Russell.
"My own recipe. Peel and slice (1/4") three or four medium turnips. Lightly salt and set aside (the salt brings out the juice). Chop and saute clove garlic in bacon drippings, cooking oil or whatever. When soft, remove garlic from pan. Bread turnip slices with Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix. Fry, one layer at a time, until golden brown on each side. (You will wish that you had fried more!)"
