This afternoon, while I was sweeping off the porch, I thought I saw a hummer. I live in northeastern Texas. I thought I should put my feeders back out in March. Is it possible that it might be earlier, or was that just a very small bird?
Is it possible??
It could have been a hummer. More hummers than most people realize over winter in the Eastern half of the US, especially the southeast.
Yay! I'm South of Ft. Worth and I just posted asking when I should put mine back out too. I read that I should put them back out in Jan-Feb so I was thinking maybe I should go ahead. I guess maybe this is a sign that I should! I think I missed the early group last year. I'm interested to know if others have been seen too. Lucky you!
Iw2d sent this link to me last fall http://www.hummingbirds.net/map.html
Not so far. In fact, I'm beginning to wonder if I even saw it. Since you say Jan. Maybe I did. yay!!
Seems unlikely, jdee but, try putting out a feeder just in case!
My husband said the same thing. Just wishful thinking I guess.lol
Nice to hear from you. I haven't see you posting in a while. Maybe I just visit different threads than you do.
I haven't been posting much lately. Kinda hunkered down for the winter, I guess. I'm tired of winter and can hardly wait for spring!
I understand. My cousin sent me a little email questionaire, and one of the questions asked for favorite hobbies. I realized later, that crocheting is the only hobby I listed that doesn't involve going outside. No wonder I've been depressed lately. lol
Cool sites talking about the various types of common and not so common hummers in Texas. Some even over winter there.
