Now if our brugs can just hang on a little longer ,eh ?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

My brugs are starting to grow, due to more daytime hours! Whooppee!!!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

I think we made it thru another winter ............. Y I P P E E ! ! !

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

I still have February to go through because that is our coldest month. Our winter consists of cold days one week and then in the mid 70's the next week. I think this is very confusing to the brugs. All winter our temps are constantly up and down. Mine are not growing fast at all because I think somehow they still know that it is wintertime here even though some days are warm and has even gotten to 90 in the greenhouse with the door open. I truly wish that I had the weather where I could keep mine dormant for a couple of months and they could rest but that is impossible to do that here and I probably would not like what my whole winter would be like.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I have three more months to go :-(!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Whoa..........It ain't over yet.......until the "fat lady sings", or something like that.
We still have to get through February, which is probably our worst/cold month, then mid March, ground comes unfrozen, by then, I am outside in cold and rain, doing stuff. Won't be too long, I hope!

Mukwonago, WI(Zone 5a)

Scoot......... the brugs are starting to get too big for the basement, so I will have to start dragging them up pretty soon. I'm hoping that wasn't just wishful thinking about winter nearing an end. I'm praying for an early spring.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Monika, our weather is so much alike. I also have three months + to wait for putting them outside. Hopefully I can move some things to the greenhouse in a month and begin some more seeds for other things.

Bel Air, MD(Zone 6a)

We had our first snow yesterday, not much here in Bel Air but it is very cold. We are supposed to get more snow saturday and sunday. I am also looking forward to spring.
With my daughter now living at home we are going to do some landscaping all around. Can not wait.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

We often have our coldest weather in March and sometimes in early April. When is Easter this year?? We can plant everything after Easter. Until that time, we move the early stuff in and out, if a freeze is predicted. Hey, when should we pot our GH rootings?? Is it too early to do that now???

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Things are looking up as I notice new growth on my brugs just as Hibiscus noted .

I do notice the best growth spurt in mid Feb. here in Wisconsin . The length of day is enough to cause this by then.

This is also when I do my outdoor winter sowing of flowers and some veggies , less chance of an early warm front causing premature germination
only to be frozen dead a couple days later.

I also start my regular seeds indoors in Feb unless I have some that need 3 months to germinate.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Our ground doesn't freeze after the 20th of March, I start my tomato seeds inside then. Sure sounds good to me! Only a month and couple weeks. I'm ready! It would help if we saw more sunshine tho'.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

here, April is still good for temperatures down to -10°C.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Our last predicted frost date is April 15 but we had frost 9 (almost a freeze )the last of April last year. I was making makeshift greenhouses everywhere fighting the plastic blowing everywhere from all the winds and running drop cords for heat lamps.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Oh ada ! What we will do for our p[lants , eh ?

Up here we are not safe until June 1st. Except for last year we had a 'freeze' 3 weeks after that.

Compiled with the early fall freeze we only had like a 3 month growing season.

No veggies to speak of and no veggie seeds or flower seeds matured except for some canna ,Grandfathers Whiskers and Devils Claw.

I can only get better :~D

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

What are Grandfathers Whiskers? I need to talk to you.....

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

GFW is a old Victorian name for Cleome. I looked them up once and promptly forgot all except GFW and ''Kiss me BY the garden Gate'' for Pansies. (not to be confused with '' Kiss Me OVER the Garden Gate'')

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Okay, thanks. Have you ever grown Cat's whiskers? They are so cute and so much shorter. I'm hoping that Kyle will be able to get me a start of them for this summer from the plants he dug up. If not, I'll just order.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

We are going thru a real winter here -- Everybody skidding about and many closings. People in Richmond don't know how to drive in snow!
My seven Bichons adore romping and cavorting in the snow, but drying them off is a full time job. I have two puppies debuting at the Alamodrome in San Antonio Feb 4 & 5 if anyone lives close at hand.
The mention of Cleomes brings summer home to me -- they reseed and grow like weeds in my garden. I leave them to take over in the Iris and Daffodil areas when the others have died out, but they show up everywhere.
They bloom until Nov here, then we pull up and trash them.
My GH is producing lots of aphids and two slugs a day; minimum. The Brugs and cuttings are hanging on; I need to spend a few hours potting and changing water today.
Bizzzy,bizzy!
